    Pros

    Nice Lunchroom & Free Coffee

    Cons

Like playing with the guy who will just take his ball and go home. Dishonesty. Very underhanded.

    Advice to Management

3 blind mice. Let someone with experience drive. Find you a different trade. I was lied to about the job the whole time there.

I worked at IMI (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Exceptional market share of the petro, chemical, and steel industries, manufacturing and reworking there factory valves. They are occupying a new facility, and purchased new CNC, automatic welders, water jet, and forming equipment. They stay busy most of the year, with a lot of O/T available.

    Cons

Inexperienced and supportive upper management, who don't listen to the voice of experience. They're in a new facility, have some fairly new CNC milling and turning center's, plasma, water jet, press/forming equipment, but won't properly tool them or purchase the proper measuring equipment (mic's, indicator's, etc....) to meet the shop needs, which hampers production and scheduling. Management focuses and spends more on the implementation and ideology of 5S and LEAN. Success begins from within, and during my time of employment, they hadn't figured that one out yet.

    Advice to Management

Management need's to look into their management practice's; listen to and be involved more with the shop personel; allocate the funds yearly to meet and maintain the needs of the shop employee's, their machine tools and equipment.

I worked at IMI (More than a year)

    Pros

New equipment. Place is spotless clean

    Cons

Everything else. Non climate controlled (Sweat to death or freeze) Latest management thinks they can build single unit giant valves by same methods as automotive mass production. Its a first grade fire drill without teachers to lead it.

    Advice to Management

Rehire the people who left because they knew what they were doing but you thought you knew better.

I worked at IMI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, people are paid decently well.

    Cons

It seems that more than half of production staff is temporary. Hard to get hired on there, and temps are let go with no notice. In my time there, I have heard of temps being called and let go after 4 days, being let go after their boss tells them they will see them tomorrow, coming in to work only to find they can't get in the building, and in one case, a guy was called while he was on his lunch break and told to go home. Most of the employees have so little experience, there are mistakes made all the time.

    Advice to Management

Seriously, stop with the meetings. Management spends more than half their day meeting with each other talking about what needs to be done, instead of doing it. Instead of focusing on meetings and talking about what you need to do, why not just go and do it?
