    Advice to Management

Plant has discontinued sub contractors and has employees of the plant taking over there responsibilities with no compensation or recognition.

I have been working at IMTT full-time

    Pros

You can do well if you have a relative or friend who has a high position in the company or if you are willing to screw over hard workers.

    Cons

    Sexist, racist, elitest.
Management is clueless and the company is horribly out of touch with modern business practices.
Nothing has changed since being purchased except accelerated promotion of yes men.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on time clocks for hard workers and put your management in line. You have the saddest bunch of managers that I have ever seen in my life. Start over, you are worse at getting things done than the government.

    Pros

Benefits are some of the best around, but it is usually a huge fight during union contact negotiations. Rewards for 180 days of zero accidents. Birthday and holiday gifts are given as well. You get 1 week paid vacation after 6 months of employment, and then another week after a year and another after 5. Vacation time renews at the beginning of every year. They give 4 paid personal days and 3 paid sick days every contract year. They provide decent grade PPE. There is a big safety push, so any safety issues/fixes can usually be resolved pretty quickly.

    Cons

You are a number. The business is solely customer driven, meaning the customer dictates when they want or need the product. Which means sometimes 72 hours per week. You can be forced to work overtime per union contract, including weekends and holidays. You often won't find out about forced overtime until 30-60 minutes before your shift ends. Many weekend plans or doctor appointments have had to be cancelled last minute due to forced overtime. Management does not like employees using sick or personal days and will try to fight them if they can.

Management's policy on learning from mistakes or accidents or near-misses is to punish the employee with unpaid time off instead of education. One employee was wiping the fog off of his goggles and a manager saw and gave him a week off.

The hierarchical structure of the plant is well established. Management says they have an open door policy to every employee, yet they have the office doors locked with a keypad and interrogate you about what you want and if you asked your superiors if you could go there. Management acts like they sit on a throne above everyone else. There are a few exceptions, but most are bad apples.

    Advice to Management

Every employee is a human being with thoughts and feelings and family. We all have lives outside of work we need to tend to. We are also all capable of making mistakes. We want to work for a company where we feel respected and taken care of, not taken advantage of. In management's eyes, we are merely a means of completing the job.
