    Positive Outlook

I worked at Icon Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company culture is good and unique. Even with sales environment, team work and mutual support are strongly encouraged. Everyone is smart and professional, straight-forward and instructive. I met great people here and made some good friends. Really a good place for new grads to develop sales skills and grow in recruitment industry.

The bonus system is relatively fair for billers and the company show understanding towards its consultants for ups & downs.

    Cons

The company recently went through major change and re-structure, so there might be some miscommunication in KPI, performance evaluation as well as management system.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. It is good and bring values, but always take in new constructive ideas from the consultants and ACs. Hire the best mind with good hearts and they would make money.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

    - Meritocratic culture with clear performance review system and fair benefit scheme. Performers are rewarded, yet management don't give up on low performers easily
    - Strong specialisation in Supply Chain gives sales people a clear USP when pitching clients
    - Company values don't allow for people with low-integrity or bad attitudes - the people are the best part about working at Icon
    - Company is small enough that there are still almost unlimited opportunities for growth / promotion
    - Entrepreneurialism is encouraged - freedom to come up with new ideas, pursue business opportunities as you like

    Cons

    - Only offices in Tokyo, competing for some international contracts can be difficult
    - Not suitable for someone who wants to work in a large company atmosphere with big budget etc

  4. "Small, political environment. Big egos."

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Icon Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Work life balance can be self managed, as long as you perform
    - Starting base salary is decent for an entry level position
    - Office is clean and good location
    - Bullhorn is a decent recruiting application and they have up-to-date desktop PCs

    Cons

    - Very political environment. Lots of small managers that have their huge egos
    - Payouts for candidate placement commission is very low for a "boutique" recruitment company
    - Company does not pay for basic benefits nor compensate for employees' government taxes
    - High turnover for a very small company. There's a reason it isn't growing past 15 people.

    Advice to Management

Working at Icon Partners was an eye opener in terms of level of unprofessionalism between coworkers in a small company environment.

There was very little support for entry level employees to grow and an extreme example of a sink or swim culture. If you can deal with the highly political culture and want to become promoted quickly into a management role, then Icon Partners does allow for quick promotions. Just be prepared for a highly political struggle to rise.

    Pros

Ability to implement own work style
Fully accountable for all own responsibilities
    Well rewarded for hard work
Opportunity to contribute to system and processes within the company

    Cons

Training and standardization of SOPs a little lacking
Office environment good but not great.
Must me very motivated and have entrepreneurial spirit to succeed (also a Positive though)

    Advice to Management

On the whole Icon Partners has incredible potential for growth with a distinct competitive edge over the competition. Only advise would be to develop a more standardized approach for hiring, to ensure office cohesiveness and increased individual success.
