    Pros

Positive work environment, promotes from within the Organization, helps local schools and communities.

    Cons

There is no official new hire training. Ongoing training and education is necessary for current team members as well.

    Surprised Reviews Are So Low!

Mar 27, 2017 - Personal Financial Representative in Tukwila, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Unheard of 401k plan--if you contribute 6%, they contribute up to 12%. -Great health insurance coverage through Kaiser Permanente. -Tuition reimbursement after 1 year up to 7500 annually or 30k total. -There's been a lot of tumult and change in the organization over the last 2 years since they left South Lake Union in Seattle and moved headquarters to Tukwila. It appears there are a lot of people that are incredibly unproductive that are being asked to leave and it's bringing in a lot of new, interesting, and competitive people. -Only financial institution I've worked at closed on weekends. -Sales and operation teams have generous compensation compared to other credit unions.

    Cons

-A streak of "we do it this way because we've always done it this way" attitude. -Not a good place to work if you aren't okay with flexibility and ambiguity. -A tad disorganized, but with clearly good intentions and goals on how to become a more streamlined organization.

    Best back office

Jan 14, 2010 - Credit Services Representative in Seattle, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Family comes first, constant professional development, ample opportunities for education (at work and in night classes in the community), equitable distribution of work, engaged management, specialized market demographic, cross-training, great cooperation. Also excellent medical, dental, vision and 2-to-1 401(k) matching on the first 6%. Annual incentive bonus. Bi-annual performance reviews.

    Cons

Small organization - no room to advance unless there is turnover or retirement. Some times the work culture is "keep doing your work and we'll take care of you" which is true, but doesn't inspire me.

    Really unhealthy work environment

Jun 19, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Seattle, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Impressive 401K match - Work/life balance That's really it. By the time I left there wasn't much left that's good.

    Cons

    - Leadership fought constantly, lots of plotting and alliances. - The direction/goals of the org frequently changed - Very little room for career growth (flat structure means lateral transfers, not promotions). - Pay was TERRIBLE, even by nonprofit standards (leaving to a similar job was a 50% raise) - Building is significantly too small for the number of staff, it's cramped. Lack of meeting space/ conference rooms discourages both privacy and collaboration. - People are given jobs they're not qualified for in the name of "growth" and at the expense of the company's efficiency

    Stable and Supportive

Feb 8, 2011 - Credit Services Representative in Seattle, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Family first, lots of management support, variety in tasks, intelligent membership, lots of great benefits (2-1 401(k) match on the first 6%!), great comeraderie, lots of recognition, beautiful back office.

    Cons

Lack of ownership among staff, slow implementation of technical improvements, long-time staff are resistant to change, reason for staff time off is almost always advertised.

    Encourages Long Tenure

Feb 11, 2012 - Credit Services Representative in Seattle, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Excellent 401(k) plan, affordable health and dental plans, on-site fitness center, regular pot luck celebrations, mutually supportive environment and efforts by management to ensure fair treatment and professional development.

    Cons

Resistance to legislatively mandated changes brings down morale. Lack of technical specialization limits job opportunities inside and outside of organization. Inability to work remotely detracts from electronic nature of banking - shows dedication to older, cash-based model.
