    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Integrated Media Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibiliity; working with all levels of employees; full service agency. Extremely talented video production group, all in-house. The social media talent is awesome!

    Cons

Sometimes too busy to have regularly scheduled meetings. Deadlines are always an issue with most ad agencies, but they seem to handle them okay.

    Advice to Management

Keep the young talent rolling in. Allow all team members to contribute.

I worked at Integrated Media Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Very helpful and supportive team members empathetic to my challenges
    - Startup type of environment culture where you were able to experiment and try a lot of new things
    - A lot of very smart analytics team members and old school ldigital media and tv marketing team who understood the industry very well.
    - A lot of messy data to work with if you like that kind of thing
    - Very casual environment

    Cons

    - The legacy systems and technology at the time was made to be impossible to improve or even work with
    - All of the backend systems were developed many years ago and controlled by a few people who knew how anything worked.
    - No focus on hiring engineering help or implementing open source solutions
    - Company was only focused on dazzling clients with a lot of fancy powerpoints.
    - They still relied on very traditional methods of selling media to clients with a lot of old-timer people relying on out-dated practices.

    Advice to Management

    - Focus on hiring the proper engineering talent to be able to work with the backend systems so that data access isn't hijacked by a few people in the organization.
    - Upgrade analytics team with some programming and development talent for manipulating data. Excel experts are not the only ones who can analyze data.

    Pros

    Many good hard working people

    Cons

Not able to retain clients. Management was a joke. Revolving door for senior management. The last CEO...wont name names...but her initials are NM was a joke and she ran the company right into the ground. She was obsessed with video marketing when it was clear many of the current list of clients were DRTV focused. She was a clueless FOOL.

    Advice to Management

no advice, because you morons ran the company into the ground and cost many good people jobs.

I worked at Integrated Media Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-People make all the difference in a company and there were so many brilliant, hard working and enthusiastic employees. It's a smaller agency, so you found yourself in the kitchen grabbing coffee or working closely with people on just about every team
-Hours were pretty decent for a full service digital agency and a small group
-You learn a lot and get exposed to everything
    -Fun happy hours
-Leadership team full of strong Type A personalities that can sell a photo to a blind man

    Cons

-Leadership did not retain talent well at all.
-Stretched very thin but that is normal in most agencies.
-Have never witnessed a junior employee promotion, smart junior employees have probably left before committing
-Politics politics politics. Lots of favoritism and bureaucracy.
-Revolving door. Come in. Learn what you can. Get out.

    Advice to Management

Weak senior leadership. The politics are very transparent. Work as a team because you're all on the same side.

I worked at Integrated Media Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was happy while I was there. Great staff, very profesional & I learned quite a bit in my 2 months.

    Cons

Book keeping and forecasting was so bad I was laid off after 2 months of employment. Who makes a hire if job cuts may be looming

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of hiring people if you can keep them on. Being laid off after 2 months in 2008 set my career back by 3 years.

Current Employee - Account Manager in Beverly Hills, CA

    Pros

    - Ambitious and Intellectually Curious Environment
    - Fantastic Benefits
    - Many Growth Opportunities to learn across media (Online, DRTV, Print, etc.)
    - Team Environment - there tend to be senior, mid and junior level employees on each account providing valuable management experience for those higher up and fantastic learning opportunities for more junior staff
    - Casual Work environment
    - Growth opportunities available - especially in Digital department

    Cons

    - Incredibly Long Hours
    - For the size of the offices, the Senior Management does not really know who you are although VPs tend to know you very well.
    - Problems getting sign off for any raises, processes, etc. as the most senior level management (C-level execs) do have some micro-management issues

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge employees on a personal level, Reward them on a financial level, continue to foster a creative and educational environment for your employees

    Pros

Immediate supervisors, whether aware of it or not, are not only managers to their subordinates, but are also leaders and potential mentors. My immediate supervisors were wonderful in their leadership and directional guidance, making my career knowledge enriching and satisfying.

    Cons

L-O-N-G work days. Weekends too. Although a VPN (virtual private network) was in place so employees could access their desktop computers from elsewhere, working after hours or on weekends was common, normal, and acceptable. This is one industry in which people looked at you funny if you leave at 5 or 6pm, making remarks about you "working half a day". Work/life balance was heavily and unfairly gravitated to "work", leaving little for "life". So if you value the quality of your life, and your health, don't work for Integrated Media Solutions. Also, since there are two offices on opposite coasts, sometimes one coast would interact with the other outside of the other's business hours.

    Advice to Management

More interaction with those who are not at the senior level (meaning mid-career or junior). During times when clients visited the office, I felt invisible until probably the last few years there. More training on various subjects like media math and ratings. And why didn't the Buyers use Excel to optimize their media, unless I'm wrong and they actually did (or do) use Excel? It just makes sense rather than using static hardcopy reports.

I worked at Integrated Media Solutions (More than a year)

    Pros

Really good data an analytics group though key people have now left

    Cons

Total chaos. No leadership from CEO. Her vision was not consistent with the reality of the actual business. Key senior employes left. Client losses significant. Thus no room to advance career.

    Advice to Management

Develop a vision consistent with the real core competency of the agency
