I have been working at Inter-Con Security full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Salary is good. Bonuses are received every quarter.

    Cons

No company parking at main building until after hours. Have to pay for parking or street parking. To receive a full paycheck, you have to hustle for the hours.

    Advice to Management

Workers need to hear that they are doing a good job. Not always hearing that they are not. Training should be conducted physically not just by textbook upon arrival to HST.

    Pros

Not a lot of positive things to say yet since i'm so new to this company

    Cons

Have only been employed with Inter- Con for a month and a half and have already wasted more paper filling out forms, forms and more forms... poor trees

    Advice to Management

finalize the paperwork THEN have your employees fill it out

Get better health insurance policy for employees at children's hospital.

I worked at Inter-Con Security part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hourly pay is good if you work at a SCE substation.

    Cons

"Porta potty" bathrooms not always on site. If "porta potty" on site, bring your own toilet paper!

    Advice to Management

A more prompt response time to "security officers" calling in for additional hours would be advised. Most of the time, they don't return your call for at least 2-3 days.

    Pros

Some of the people are the best thing this company has going!

    Cons

Extremely high turn-over, non-inclusive, and highly militant. Clique-ish and good ol' boys organization.

    I worked at Inter-Con Security full-time

    Pros

Pays better than most if not any other armed security contract; if you don't have a security clearance (TS) yet they work to get it for you(not guarranteed, a few don't getit); good camraderie among officers

    Cons

You'll probably start at outside post any shift; will get held over and have your work schedule changed; management policy changes often; lots of turnover

    Advice to Management

Add 401A matching to keep officers

I worked at Inter-Con Security full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and that is ALL

    Cons

You have set breaks where you barely have time to get to the bathroom, get your belt off with your weapon to pee, and be back to your post within 15 mins. You only get 45 mins for chow; which if you don't bring your own food you are SOL. You are not allowed to leave the building to go get food while in uniform. You have to gear down, take off your vest, put on a shirt, jacket, or sweater over top if you do want to leave and get food. Good luck doing all of that and getting back to your post in time. No set schedules, it fluctuates every week and the possibility of you being held over is HIGH so be prepared to work 12+. Do not fret tho because there is NO over-time so you don't have to worry about being held over too many times. You will NEVER see 40 hours in a work week. Be prepared to stand there, staring into space for hours. You are NOT allowed to have your phone on you...at all. You are not allowed to drink coffee or any other fluid other than water (24 oz bottle only....and that means ONE at a time). Hungry? No eating on post either, you better wait until whatever crazy time your set break is. So just starve. They do not care about their employees, they care about the client and what makes THEM look good. My advice? Forget the money, you can find something better that offers over-time and takes care of you. IF you have a history of UTI's this would not be the job for you either (you could always just not drink water the whole shift so you don't have to pee and end up having to hold it). Many of the desk SGTs are a joke and are an insult to the average person's intelligence. I often wonder if the majority are related to Gomer Pyle. The paperwork and "clocking in" is out-dated. It's time to get with the program and advance with technology.

    Advice to Management

TAKE CARE of your employees and stop spending your knees being suck-ups to make yourselves look good. It's pathetic.
