Pros

IV has a lot of well-meaning staff who sincerely work to improve the lives of college students and share the love of Jesus. I made a lot of great staff friends over my years working with IV, and I still keep in touch with some of them. It's not those staff's fault that upper management hides things from them.

Cons

-Forces staff into unsustainable work hours (for the "2030 Calling") -Doesn't actually care about staff wellness (even though the leaders say they do) -Portrays itself as having a moderate view on homosexuality (Side B), but actually functions with the most extreme conservative view (Side X) in how it makes various organizational decisions. LGTBQ+ staff don't last long in IV, and they often leave traumatized. -In reality, only actually supports 1-2 ethnic-minority demographics, while neglecting the others. -Doesn't know how to effectively talk about mental health, and refuses to listen to feedback that employees have given multiple times over the years. -Actively hides its flaws from staff and donors through selective information-sharing, HR cover-ups*, and spiritual bypassing -Low salaries -Few opportunities for advancement -etc. *One of my friends was wrongly fired after she had a single panic attack, but HR told everyone in her region that she voluntarily resigned. They tried to make her sign an NDA but she declined, so they refused to give her any severance pay. (I can share this story because she declined the NDA, so it's not confidential.)

Pros

Field work and low level management are places of great development and opportunity with deep meaning to work. Glad to have experienced such a time.

Cons

Executive management is underdeveloped with poor policy practice. Very difficult to receive support and/or expect appropriate management behavior and collaboration

Pros

The work is impactful, rewarding and innovative.

Cons

The fundraising model is unjust for people of color. There is also a culture of terrible work-life balance for campus staff. There are many national and regional leaders that do not know how to support staff of color. There are organizational issues galore. The national leadership is not transparent with their employees and have forced certain beliefs onto people.
