    Pros

Wonderful people to work for, usually fair and treated employees like people and not just a number or a profit. Should have stayed the course.

    Cons

Sold out too soon to Xerox. Management needed more guidance and more open communication with it's employees.

    Pros

    Good co-workers
Interesting project work when you can get it

    Cons

    Cronyism
Resourcing is based on friendships and not on skills
    Lack of company direction
If you are in the click you'll have work
    You are pigeon-holed

    Advice to Management

Fire current staff of "leaders" and hire real leaders

    Pros

Great pay and flexibility. Lots of time off which is a double edge sword.

    Cons

The company said I'd average 28 - 32hrs per week which isn't ideal but I could live with that since they offered me a good hourly pay rate. The real deal is hours are not guaranteed you may work 40 one week and only 14 the next. To much instability with scheduling. Lots of travel with no pay for mileage. You still get medical and dental benefits. Intrepid was just bought out by Xerox, so hopefully they get rid of the ignorant managers and stabilize the scheduling situation.

    Advice to Management

FOLLOW THROUGH with what you say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Management is the worst I have ever had to deal with. Even though I personally do not have to see my manager that much when I do he/she is not very helpful.

I have been working at Intrepid Learning Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's about time that Intrepid was acquired by a leading company to get out of the burden of incompetent management. It's obvious that Xerox was looking to expand their operation into Boeing since they already have a small contract with the aerospace giant. Xerox's purchase of the outsourcing/professional services division of Intrepid captures the most valuable portions, the Boeing contract and the people that are the face of the contract, assessors, instructors, and e-test monitors.

    Cons

Inconsistent management and policies lower morale, effectiveness and recruiting/retaining talented employees. Inconsistent work schedules (mgmt calls this flexibility)

    Advice to Management

Intrepid: Start looking for new jobs!
Xerox: Conduct an in-depth assessment (employee survey) of current management practices to determine current weaknesses, current successes and areas needing improvement. But most importantly, THANK YOU!

    Pros

In general, all employees are intelligent and good at what they do. Culture is so-so. Line managers mean well and work hard. Senior Managers lack vision and excellence.

    Cons

The company isn't doing well. Do your due diligence before accepting a position here. Lots of turnover - for a good reason.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the churn and burn mentality with your employees. It hurts morale. Recognize individual contributors more. Hire visionary senior management - not 'status quo' people. Adjust market strategy and pricing. L&D is more competitive than Management thinks.

    Pros

You aren't a slave. There's no micro-management. Bars are close by so you can leave and have drinks to cope with the fact you work for one of the worst companies in all of Seattle. It's barely better than taking a hot poker in the eye but the long term effects are probably much worse.

    Cons

Leadership is untruthful, benefits are horrendous, the pay is a joke. Money is randomly spent on completely useless things. Money needed for the betterment of the company can never be provided. The CFO is the true leader of the org and has zero clue how a lot of the business operates yet has final say over decisions involving technology and other aspects totally unrelated to money management. Awful decisions made by company leadership are usually blamed on underlings and even clients. It's a money pit and why anyone would continue to invest or remain a customer is beyond insanity.

    Advice to Management

Close shop, be honest with your employee and customer base. Cut your losses and call it a day. You've had A LOT of really awesome employees come thru that you've wasted their talents because they won't cow-tow to your insane requests.

    Pros

As a temp employee brought on for one long-term project, my "inside" view of Intrepid is limited. I was impressed with their professionalism and commitment to my success.

    Cons

As an outsourced, temporary W2 employee you are not offered any benefits.

    Advice to Management

Actually, no advice. Intrepid was forthcoming, open and honest at every turn. Keep up the good work.

    Pros

The management takes care of their people while making sure the customer has the proper training.

    Cons

Sometimes they buckle under pressure of the customer and compromise their integrity.

    Advice to Management

Stick to your guns, sometimes it is okay to tell the customer no.

I have been working at Intrepid Learning Solutions full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Working for Intrepid means working with some excellent, well known, organizations (Intrepid's clients). The work is challenging and flexible. Intrepid does its best when we're solving complex business challenges and are enabling our clients' business strategy. High performers are truly able to succeed.

A great place for people who consider themselves in charge of their careers. Quality of work, strong execution, and bright ideas are rewarded with opportunities for advancement and promotion. You can truly create your own career path here. People who wait for opportunity to be handed to them, or expect a traditional corporate career path will be disappointed.

Great flexibility in schedule and opportunities to telecommute. Majority of professional services team are remote employees. Very generous PTO.

    Cons

Intrepid can be slow to manage low performers out of the organization, which can sometimes have a negative impact on morale.

Intrepid is a small company and is unable to offer a 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Don't avoid the tough conversations about performance. The new strategy provides an opportunity to redefine the talent requirements and make-up of the company.

I worked at Intrepid Learning Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High hourly rate, plenty of (unpaid) time off, I really don't have much positive to say about this company. I left and have never looked back.

    Cons

Unstable schedule, less than 40 hours per week, lots of local travel, no real career advancement. They have you sign a non-compete agreement with worldwide scope preventing you from working at any other training company, which is unenforceable.
