I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Every person employed here seems to be more creatively talented and hard-working than the next and try their very best to mentor & build up their peers. Everyone truly enjoys working with one another & is open to any ideas/comments/suggestions. The new Managing Director is making huge strides to make sure the process is being adhered to.

    Cons

There aren't clearly defined teams amongst the designers at the moment, but this is something leadership is looking into. Sometimes it might seem like growing pains, but I have no doubt the Creative Directors & Managing Director won't be able to set the entire studio up for success within the first few months of 2019.

I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great access to creative opportunities; jkr is definitely having their moment in the sun - A select few people are phenomenal; truly inspiring to work with - Great, iconic brands that everyone has an equal opportunity to work on (regardless of position) - Socials are really fun; a time for the team to unwind and really bond - Benefits are good; 20 days off + paid health insurance and an additional HSA card

    Cons

    - Only a few people left from the original award-winning teams - Global HR is by far, incredibly inexperienced and unethical - Compensation is not in line with market rates and there’s a huge disparity between those who rise up through the company and those who are brought on - Pressure and expectations don’t allow for the best work; they give you just enough support to get by - Physical office space is cramped - another review referenced a sweatshop and that's what it feels like; however, I know this is something that’s being addressed

    "Diversity Much?"

I have been working at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time

    Pros

Cool Client Roster. Free Health Insurance.

    Cons

How does an agency in 2019 have so little diversity? To be clear I mean people of color. The NYC CEO has run all of the little diversity away. How is that not a red flag? What creative team in London and NYC has no Diversity? Client beware and wake up! The company ONLY HIRES FROM THE SAME POOL!

Thank you for your feedback. The agency is fortunate to be experiencing high growth, but we acknowledge there are some long hours happening at the moment while we staff up, it is not our intention for this to be the norm. Hiring best in class talent to join the team is a priority, in addition to improving ways of working across teams.

    Pros

The hive does do top quality work and the carbs are endless. Top brand clients. Seem to be swimming in revenue. Everybody seems nice at first.

    Cons

Its a hive. No personal space and no privacy. One big room with long banquet tables of evryone sitting cafeteria style. Seating assignments are literally moved weekly. No visual clue of hierchy. What would you move up to, another seat? Sweatshop with an audio track that never stops.

Thank you so much for taking time to provide feedback on your experiences at JKR. Great to know that you enjoyed working on our brands - we are lucky to have created some brilliant relationships and opportunities with our clients. As we grow, we have invited the team to give their thoughts on trying new working arrangements, in order to address the challenges in physical space and the expanding team. As a business, we also value working as a team and believe great work comes from working together, which has meant hierarchy can be less visible sometimes. That being said, we can appreciate the challenges of the changes, and are working on structure to cater to our growth. Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your thoughts.

I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time for more than a year

    Pros

JKR is a tough place to work at. Excellence isn’t given its earned... honestly, they’ve earned it. This is an institution that strives for the best. It’s a place where ideas are celebrated and mediocrity is stricken. It’s a place where imagination and ideas converge in the most creatively intelligent ways. Leadership at the top, from account to creative, understand this as a fundamental core and push against the grain to maintain it. Again, it can be tough, but the rewards of excellence enriches everything they strive for. I left because I was offered an opportunity to move my career forward, it was an opportunity I felt I had to take, but nothing compares to the imagination and quality that JKR inherently delivers on. If you get an opportunity here: work hard, be humble and push past. You just might achieve greatness.

    Cons

Communication can be difficult at times, and there can be some personality driven complications. Occasionally collaboration falls short due to this.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, we are so proud to have achieved what we have to date and thats down to the contribution of great talent. Communication is always tough in with an agency growing at pace, and yes working around multiple personalities. We are constantly trying out new approaches to ensure that collaboration, process and agency routines optimize the talent we have and get to the great work we are known for.

I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Every person here is extremely devoted. The design team is talented and willing to go the extra mile to create the best work. Everyone is always striving to do the best work possibly, and they make strides to improve as they rapidly grow. There wasn't a single person that was unpleasant while I was here, and that really speaks to the culture that everyone supports each other. They have a lot of great clients and opportunities if you step up to the plate.

    Cons

Sometimes the hours can be long, but this is natural in an agency setting. People are expected to work hard because of the high standards that JKR collectively holds themselves to, which is to produce the best work.

Thank you so much sharing your thoughts on your time with us. We are delighted to hear how much you have enjoyed the work, the clients and the great people that we are lucky to have. Culture is really important, especially in an agency that is experiencing growth as we have done over the last 12-18 months. It is great to see such a talented team pulling together and supporting one another and we are glad that you felt a part of that in your time with us. Future talent is of course a priority and right now the most important thing is that the new joiners are as talented as our existing staff…you have all set the bar very high! Thank you again for taking the time to share you experience we really appreciate it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your time at JKR. We are fortunate that the agency has gone through a rapid growth (clients and team) trajectory over the last 18mths. With such growth does come the need for evolved ways of working and a structure to deliver the work. Long hours are never fun and an all too norm in our industry. No excuses. As a team we are looking for how we might achieve greater balance. Additionally, we wholeheartedly agree on the need to have an HR person based in our NY office. This role is posted on our website and we look forward with filling with the right HR talent to add to the team. https://jones-knowles-ritchie.workable.com/j/5375D13B0A
