Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Kyriba is an awesome company to work for.

    Pros

I highly recommend Kyriba. Kyriba is a strong, growing company. It is evolved into a company focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. They care about their employee's work/life balance. They’ve also put in place programs that help employees, and Kyriba, give back to the community and challenge its employees to be good citizens in whatever part of the world they reside. Kyriba also has excellent benefits, a yearly bonus, unlimited time-off (RTO), Hybrid Work Schedules, and a new employee recognition program. The Workplace Experience Team works hard to build a strong company culture that brings global teams together and creates spaces that build community and relationships. They are the heart of Kyriba.

    Cons

It is a growing company. Still evolving. I don't see that as a bad thing. It's an opportunity to build and improve an already excellent product.

    WARNING! IT pro's. Stay away!

May 6, 2022 - Systems Administrator in San Diego, CA

    Pros

Nice location, parking structure, building amenities, barely okay pay, good benefits.

    Cons

Questionable co-workers (within the IT Department) make the environment more stressful and toxic than it should be. Watch out for middle and upper management relationships with their history of working together from former companies who cross the line and coverup for each other when you're not part of that inner circle, as you just try to do your job. Most importantly, research "at-will employment" very well, and have an exit plan if you choose to accept an offer. Because these guys have no issues executing the "at will employment" clause, as confirmed with other former IT folk...

    Great Entry Level Sales Role

Nov 27, 2021 - Business Development Representative in San Diego, CA

    Pros

The BDR department is fantastic. Leadership cares about each employee and truly has our back. Always recognizes individuals for their outstanding work. Frequent team outings to celebrate crushing our goals. Goals and OTE commission are reasonably attainable. Pay is right at market value. Leadership incentivizes the team with frequent large payouts to top performer. Product is fantastic. Kyriba is definitely a market leader and is highly recognized and praised. Great onboarding and the training from management is beneficial. Easily transferrable skills on prospecting methods. Fantastic coworkers. Entire team is motivated and there is healthy competition. Everyone takes the time to acknowledge when a particular person has crushed it that quarter. Always willing to lend a helping hand and provide tips and advise - my favorite part of working here. VPs of Sales are excellent as well. No egos, always willing to help, and thanks us for our hard work. The Account Executives I’ve worked with are great people. Willing to take feedback, treat me like a teammate (not a boss), and recognize my efforts to management. Modern technology for prospecting. Makes it very easy to streamline our daily grind of prospecting. The office is spacious and newer. Good snacks and drinks. We each have a dedicated desk. Weekly meetings with subject matter experts to better understand the product and how to tailor our pitches. Marketing leadership is extremely knowledgeable on the industry.

    Cons

Executive leadership seems to be confused on the direction of the company. Constant change among executives. Recent change to in-office work. We were working remotely throughout Covid. Now mandatory 5-days a week in the office. Your compensation is somewhat dependent on how competent your Account Executive is on discovery calls. High turnover with AEs due to lack of performance. Prospecting is a grind and can become mundane at times. Not a ding on Kyriba, just the role and how it can be challenging. Mostly outbound leads. Inbound Marketing leads are few and far between. Career progression takes a little longer. Most likely will not become AE until 12 months, at least. No game-plan on how to be promoted. Emphasize beating your goals vs developing AE skills. BDR management seems to be spread thin. No current opportunity for management. BDR teams are not growing enough to warrant a new manager.
