I have been working at LCS full-time

    Pros

The people that work at LCS in the corporate office are amazing. I have had the pleasure to meet many of their upper level staff and couldn't be more impressed. They are knowlegable, supportive, down to earth and genuinely care about the elder population that they serve. To find a company that has core values and true ethics like LCS does is rare.

    Cons

Honestly I thought LCS must be too good to be true, I've looked for the flaws. I haven't found them yet. Working long hours and juggling family and work is a given when you work in this type of job. Its worth it and so rewarding to care for seniors and when you work for a great company there really is nothing to complain about.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing exactly what has worked for you for the last 41 years.

    Cons

No huge issues with this company during the entire time I worked there.

I have been working at LCS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Electronic medical records and good IT programs support associates at the communities. Good systems and resources, policies and procedures available.

    Cons

Regionals very aggressive and not supportive of executive directors. Dishonest with regards to pay and benefits. They say one thing and do another. Regionals lie to owners.

    Advice to Management

Be honest. Good role models needed at regional level.

I worked at LCS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent nursing staff! Longterm community relationships. Great longevity due to previous owners and the ability to build a strong team.

    Cons

Horrible staffing ratios, with focus on numbers and $$$. Expectations are not realistic. Big business focus. Lots of changes that are very concerning to all parties.

    Advice to Management

It's a business providing a very personal service. Focus on what the patient needs and how to support the ones providing the care.

    Pros

LCS has systems and processes that are great on paper. Policy and procedures available in all areas as needed as a good resource.

    Cons

This company does not support executive directors or other managers in the community. Not truthful in advertisements recruitment. Does not pay bonus' or other benefits as the profess in interview. Lack of support and poor business decisions at regional level. Blames others and does not take responsibility. Worst company I have worked for in 25years.

    Advice to Management

Be honest to your management team and it trickles down to staff and eventually to the residents. Support the staff and they will do what ever you ask. Honesty with owners is important as your team knows and you set the example.

I have been working at LCS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great culture
    Great people (The seniority level)
Good benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) matching, Director+ optional employee stocks, tuition reimbursement, flexibility)
    Training and Development
Large company and room for growth
    Company events, department events
Lots to do, be busy, and get involve with

    Cons

    Old SMB mentality
Business front-end grows faster than processes/procedures can keep up with on back-end
Newer recruits a bit too aggressive with change
Lots of fire, not enough resources to put them out

    Advice to Management

Marry the front-end with the back-end together. The growth of the business is positive, but either not enough talent is being recruited or is staying to keep the boat sailing. It is floating at best right now.

    Pros

privately held, employee owned, midwestern values, conservative approach to business

    Cons

communities are all out of state away from home office which can create a lack of understanding of local markets to some degree

    Advice to Management

hire local advertising agencies, listen to staff on the front line (sales staff)

I worked at LCS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ardenwoods has a great work culture with supportive management who encourage great teamwork in a well-organized work environment. There are decent benefits for full-time employees.

    Cons

I can't think of any major cons. You are required to work some holidays. If you work in the kitchen, sometimes there are early Sunday morning shifts and late shifts on holidays.
