Pros

Exposure to many areas of how a small business operates, so you do learn a good amount. However, I also didn't learn much of what I was promised, such as market researching skills.

Cons

Boss is extremely unprofessional, and even though it says "deferred payment" you will most likely not ever get paid.

It appears that there is a misunderstanding on what 'deferred' pay is which is understandable as it's not common in the USA. It's a 'bonus' of sorts, as and when the start-up hits net profit. Obviously pay cannot happen until we design products, and get profit from sales. CEO would not give a set timeline when the company would hit net profit as this is impossible to predict with new products in the market. Let's assume it's a misunderstanding by this reviewer. Please note internships are traditionally unpaid and no deferred pay even offered. This CEO offered the deferred pay as a benefit so when the company profits, so do the staff who helped to get it there. I do believe that if someone is doing projects they are interested in they do a better job so if there are areas anyone wants to work in, communication with the CEO is the best. If you don't ask, you won't get.

Pros

Great environment with coworkers, all recent graduates with a lot of energy and ideas.

Cons

Management only does internships because cant and probably wont be able to pay their employees. The oldest person is the CEO (aprox like 47), and the second oldest would be like 25, this is so you kind of know the work environment age. Also, another cons is that there are not seniors employees, so if you are an engineer you will have to research and do all by your own. This makes the internship a bit pointless apart that it is free labor for the company. I would not recommend this company.

As a small USA start up often boot strapping is necessary until the great ideas and products are brought to market and create sales. The CEO has successfully designed, and brought to market their first invention - see Amazon and ebay for LABEL LABEL KEY CAPS. This is a success is due to the great mechanical engineers who worked hard to design this amazing key cap, and the great graphic designer who designed the packaging and the marketing guys who got it into the market to our customers. ... It's a great team effort and a success...and the next product, due to be launched by the end of 2015, will be even bigger. Most companies do not get a return for the first 2-3 years which some people perhaps are not aware of. We turned a profit on this after a few months and now designing even more key caps. LNK aims to encourage young students wishing to gain real, hands-on experience. Keep your eyes and ears open and you'll learn a lot. It's up to the individual to see what they can take from this experience.
