Do not work here. Culture of bullying, disrespect, and insecurity.

Pros

Great pay and good mid level associates. Very talented people work in lower level roles.

Cons

Once a great company the new CEO Brad Southern and executive leadership are unethical liars only interested in total loyalty to their stock price increases. There is no future here. They systematically fire people with over 15 years experience with a track record of performing. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT EMPLOYEES.

Pros

Wages and benefits for unskilled labor are above average for the area, if you make it through the temp-to hire period and get hired on as a regular employee.

Cons

Pretty much everything else about LP and the LP Wilmington plant is a con. Management is incompetent. Favoritism and nepotism are rampant. If you are related to, or friends with managers and supervisors, you can get away with sleeping on the job, damaging expensive machinery, violating safety procedures, making poor quality product and threatening/assaulting managers. LP claims to hold safety and quality as their highest "core values", yet they eliminated many safety and quality positions throughout the company just to save some money. They could have started saving money by not wasting it on boondoggle projects. The old saying about being "penny wise but pound foolish" was coined with LP in mind. LP spent millions on machines that don't work and projects that failed, yet they ration coffee and sugar in the employee break room like they were made of gold. Employee morale is very low. Turnover is high. The rotating, 12 hour shifts are soul-sucking and make having a work-life balance near impossible. Below market wages for skilled and technical positions. Health care benefits are expensive. Management has nothing but disdain for their employees, which is sad, because most of them "came up through the ranks" and have lost their perspective. What veteran employees remain are just marking time until they can retire. There is no pride in the work being done.

Pros

The opportunity to attend events at LP Field and Bridgestone Arena from the company suite.

Cons

LP talks a big game. The literature suggests that the company is caring and compassionate and that they want to become an employer of choice through their honesty and integrity, however, when it comes down to it, they will stand by management no matter what and they have decided to let management rule - even if that means they are harassing to other coworkers and subordinates. The accounting department at the Nashville corporate office is corrupt and full of negative people. The culture is spoiled by politics and the environment is toxic to work in. On top of that the work hour expectations are 70-80 hours per week - and that IS NOT for a "limited" time or because of "special" circumstances like they claim.
