    I worked at LUMS full-time

    Pros

A great deal of autonomy is provided by senior management.
Being an academic institute allows extensive opportunities to research and collaborate with high quality faculty.

    Cons

Academic institutions are geared towards focusing mostly on the students and faculty. Staff generally play an administrative role, thus systems for managing staff and their work are not designed accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Engage consultants or other professionals (perhaps current staff members) to actively engage in improving systems for managing staff retention, career path, training and development etc

    Pros

    Excellent researth facilities
Challenging and competent faculty very streamlined admin process.. lots of initiative and research projects.. excellent sport facilities and extracurricular options

    Cons

Lancaster can get boring sometimespecially yet plenty of opportunities to hike and roam around lake dsitrict .. sometimeshe. On campus accommodation for families can be a new issue esp for part time studnets

    Advice to Management

Very good ..no advise as such. Sometimes professors deal in isolation despite the mandatory seminar attendances etc yet very much approachable

I worked at LUMS (Less than a year)

    Pros

A very good environment was provided. You get to mentor students and get to network around in your department. If done in senior year, it will be stress free.

    Cons

Lab based courses have too much workload so don't take those courses. Lums does not pay its TAs as good as its RAs so pick RAship over a TAship.

    Advice to Management

Lums management really need to increase pays. Payscale hasn't changed since mid-2000s. Especially in 3 credit hour courses with labs (SSE), we are paid less for more work, since it is devised as 100rs/cre
