I worked at Legacy Professionals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not as many hours as other firms. Nice location of the main office. Nice traveling bonus. Clients are very friendly. Helps it's employee obtain their CPA license. Partners are nice.

    Cons

Micromanaged. They do not take into consideration where you live when they assign clients to you. A lot of the staff is related to the partners (son, cousin, nephew, etc.) The salary is very low compared to the market. Some supervisors are very unfriendly.

    Advice to Management

Raise the salary. Listen to other staff opinions. Continue to train middle management. Take into consideration where staff live when assigning them to clients.

I have been working at Legacy Professionals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with and they promote from within. Potential for a short timeline from Audit Staff to Partner.

    Cons

There are many responsibilities while the compensation is well under the average. The hours throughout the year can be pretty high.

    Advice to Management

Pay fairly and many of your employees wouldn't leave. That costs you money training new employees. The cycle will continue.

I worked at Legacy Professionals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family environment, less hours than industry standard.

    Cons

After being at 2 other accounting firms after legacy, they are miles behind other firms in terms of compensation. While I was there for 3 years, they continued to hire because they thought they were understaffed when in reality they just didn't make there employees were that many hours (50 during busy season, 40 during non-busy). These other firms expect more hours than legacy does, but also pays a much higher compensation. Most importantly, legacy does not help you in the future if you decide to leave because other firms are in different sectors than legacy, so you either need to leave after 2-3 years or stay the long haul.

    Advice to Management

Have less accountants and raise the expectations (hours) on the accountants that are employed so they can earn more compensation because that was the #1 reason people left while I was there (they just were not making enough money when other firms would pay a lot more). Legacy is a niche firm with clients in the Union and Non-For-Profit sector which yield lower fees than other medium sized firms that perform business and personal tax returns and audits in more profitable sectors (i.e. manufacturing, construction contractors, etc.).
