I have been working at LifeScript full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mgmt really wants to succeed. they just don't always know how. Lots of focus around data right now which is probably a good thing.

    Cons

The people that know the most aren't always the ones making decisions

    Advice to Management

    Make the tough calls.

I worked at LifeScript full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    good snacks and nice office

    Cons

I was employed for 7 years and tip toeing around a crazed CEO that can go off randomly at anyone at anytime was brutal. When I was there for the last couple of years we didn't even have an HR dept. instead it was an in house lawyer that is a best friend of the tyrant CEO. Good luck trying to have a complaint to the CEO's bff without backlash.
CEO gets whatever he wants because upper management and other owners won't say anything because CEO is also part owner.
I'm shocked they are still in business.

    Advice to Management

Buy out CEO and take your company back.

    Pros

Nice People used to work there.

    Cons

This place will not succeed until they get rid of the current CEO. He is an emotional guy that thinks he is the right guy for the job, but he lack vision and competence to take the company to the next level. Yes Mr. CEO yelling at people in public will not solve your problems.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the board is to replace your CEO. Get someone with fresh ideas. This is a woman's health web site. Get a woman CEO that is forward thinking

    I worked at LifeScript full-time

    Pros

Great insurance package (although they cancelled life insurance while I was there.)
    Free snacks
    Bright office

    Cons

It's a women's health site run by men. Very little opportunity for women to move up.
If you hate Trump, don't work here. They love him.
CEO yells at employees in front of others
Board is older, white men, no women...as of 2016.

    Advice to Management

There are so many employees with great ideas to make the website contemporary, not dated. Listen to them.

I worked at LifeScript full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice view from the office.

    Cons

There's a core group of men (yes, ALL men at a women's health website) that make up the leadership and they've all been there for years, never changing, never innovating, just creeping along doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Sound crazy? It is.

The CEO is a negative, volatile person who will publicly blow up on people then skulk around the office looking for someone else who might dare challenge him. This negativity permeates the entire culture with most people just doing everything they can to keep their heads down and avoid being noticed in any way.

If you're looking for a place where you can do a mediocre job, never meaningfully advance your career, walk on eggshells half the time and still get paid, this is the place for you. If you have any self-respect, you should probably look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves.

    Pros

Good perks until the money runs out

    Cons

Never a good clear path, all of management is petulant and reacting to problems all the time. CEO has a bad temper. HR is non-existent, no room for grown and small raises.

    Advice to Management

    Change all the leadership

    Pros

Good work-life balance, some great people.

    Cons

A lot of short term thinking and unhappy staff.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, be more transparent and fair

    I worked at LifeScript full-time

    Pros

There is definitely an effort to have fun company-wide gatherings and perks, like healthy activity outings.

    Cons

The office vibe is very melancholy and quite. Almost felt like talking and enjoying coworkers throughout the day was discouraged. Definitely not an all-inclusive feeling when people are shuffling to and from meetings. Very 9-to-5

I have been working at LifeScript (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    The company offers free snacks.

    Cons

Management lacks a sense of direction and too much favoritism for certain employees.

    Advice to Management

    Value your good employees!

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Great employees, awesome building with a great view, fun events (happy hours and fitness Thursdays), some great management.

    Cons

Annoying open floor plan. Nothe enough employeeso to get all the projects completed in a timely manner. Lactation room is a closet that too many employees have access to. No HR to speak of. The company would benefit from a real HR department rather than having the in house council do both jobs. They are just too busy.

    Advice to Management

Hire a real HR department. Value your female employees more by having a better maternity leave and lactation room that doesn't double as a filing closet.
