I have been working at MINACT

    Pros

From the owner and President of the company, down through the entire senior leadership team, it is very apparent that the company values its staff and values its customers.

    Cons

The company seems to be lagging behind competitors by operating with an approach that is rather antiquated.

    Advice to Management

Develop and implement a consistent leadership training program designed to prepare the company for sustainability by grooming staff who have leadership, management, and executive level potential.

I have been working at MINACT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working with the students and seeing them develop into hard working members of the tax paying community has to be the best part of the job. It comes with health benefits and even offers 401k (after a year of employment).

    Cons

The pay is pretty poor for security, all other departments make a fair amount more. Staff that have been around a while are being paid less then new hires for the same job. The stress is unbelievable. The management tends to overlook a lot of issues with students and smooth over many incidents, mostly minor ones. Staff are run into the ground as there are not enough people hired to work each shift. There is little to no room for pay increases or promotion. The six months before you can get time off seems a bit excessive more so if you change from one job within the company to another as it's required to have another six month probation period. Most departments are micromanaged to an unexpected degree.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees and treat them well if you don't want to spend more time training new ones.

I have been working at MINACT full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Lot's of energy to promote good choices and bettering oneself Part of a team (you're valued!) - put in just an ounce of effort and management will recognize you Small class sizes The students are the reward - it takes a village, and the growth is amazing Health benefits are awesome. Good coverage at a good price for medical, dental, vision Great culture - always striving to get better Employees seem to change roles/get promoted from within in a reasonable amount of time. Better than any school district or private school Requested materials typically come quickly

    Cons

No paid time off for the first 6 months (that's a bit excessive and a long time to go without a break) Salary is about 20% lower than surrounding K12 schools, at least 30% lower than surrounding colleges You work all year round - most schools/colleges have time off in the summers You work during the regular school year breaks - students have a winter break/spring break, but you are expected to show up to work High turnover Upper administration and finance lack efficiency - everything is paper based, only very basic computer programs Lots of micromanaging - too many paper records, very little is digital/modern Communication between teams/departments is minimal and important information is missed The hours are long, and we're busy - barley enough time for an unpaid lunch or to go to the bathroom, rarely time for class prep Technology/IT support is lacking Change can be very difficult

    Advice to Management

I love working here, and I see a future with this organization. My team is very good and my immediate manager is outstanding! With that said, efficiency just doesn't seem to be a priority. Often it gets in the way of student results. We are falling behind the times, change is needed to upgrade technology and policies. Policy suggestions are presented both formally in committees and informally, but rarely implemented or tried - administration seems to be afraid of change. Employee of the month nomination processes are weird and very political (causes a strange dynamic). Many managers lack appropriate and accredited training (education or experience). My advice is to offer more training and professional development opportunities for staff, use more technology, and implement new systems to operate more efficiently - especially communication and classroom technology. More company clothing would be nice to promote culture and to unite staff.

I worked at MINACT for more than 10 years

    Pros

Absolutely loved the students and was inspired every day.

    Cons

Horrible, non supportive management. Chronically short staffed in dorms and on weekends. Disrespectful to students and to staff. Focus on statistics and bottom line. Obviously in it for the money and not the students. Promoting incompetent "yes" men like wade Woolworth and Patrick Smith.

    Advice to Management

Focus on students and what is the "right" thing to do.

    Pros

A great place to earn experience at a reasonable rate, and excellent benefits for hourly associates.

    Cons

The management is indifferent and aloof from the needs of the employees, with expectations changing on a weekly basis.

    I worked at MINACT full-time

    Pros

Working with the kids. Good staff, while there are a few back biters - like anywhere. GREAT CEO and okay corporate staff. Worked at more than one JC and this corporate staff is still a corporate staff, but they do try to help unlike others (unlike Adams and ASSociates)

    Cons

Pay is lower than industry standard. School that doesn't have local school hours or days.

    Advice to Management

Look at salaries. Keep your philosophy about the kids. Follow BT.
