Micro-Managers with Baby Monitors

Pros

They have a select few people that are great assets to the company which is 4. They know who they are. Two individuals are unparalleled in their knowledge of industry standards, and anyone working there should look to them for information on IPC and J-STD 001, as well as how to be a proper leader. One last “pro” if you will; this place is great at teaching you how to be a fast food manager if you want a gold medal on how to manage a McDonald’s. Maybe you will get lucky and they’ll give you a lollipop like they do for good boys and girls at the pediatrics office if you blindly follow what they say.

Cons

Micro-management. People watching you constantly on cameras because they have nothing else to contribute to the company, hence the baby monitor reference like Roz from Monsters Inc. “always watching”. If you go over on break by 2mins they harass you until you’re miserable. They take a millennia to get people their certifications-and even longer to stay up to date with technology (still running Windows 95, barely got a 3D AOI even though that was the last decade’s tech) Their production manager is always late on shipping but blames the employees for their lack of speed, even when it’s not the employees’ fault for getting boards the day it’s due. They like to manage people, rather than letting people manage themselves. When production manager is out, everyone is happy and relaxed. As soon as prod. manager is on the floor, everyone is more tense and wound up. First day on the job, EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE said something negative about their president and production manager. They have a quality second mentality except for the people that actually care. Again, they know who they are. People that care are gophers to the production manager and president. And if the president’s hair is stuck in the 80’s, that should say everything about the company. *That break room tho.* Lagging behind the rest of the competition. Not innovative, nor forward thinking. Old and outdated. Paper paper paper and always losing travelers because the president doesn’t have any insight, nor foresight. Unwilling to invest in a REAL ERP system. Company has administrative people quit because of unreasonable demands of the president, and how they are treated. Company has survived so long because of the slow expansion over 40 years. They are starting to redline, and the engine cant hold up much longer. Not great for potential customers, and certainly not a place to make a career out of. Toxic environment with employees lying and making up stories to get ahead of coworkers with more talent, better attitude and aptitude, which happens often. Employees drinking on the job are rewarded instead of being cut loose because of seniority, even though they CLAIM customer confidentiality, employee safety, and product quality are among their primary concerns. Manufacturer of managers, not leaders. Company motto: What’s a PCB? *indicates the use of sarcasm*

Pros

The employees are welcoming and kind.

Cons

The management believes in the archaic 50 hour work week and bases all “success” on how much you work and not your production. They provide you with a laptop but frown upon working from home. They underpay for what they expect of their employees. For a company that is involved in technology, they are very much stuck in the 20th Century.
