Passionate Place To Work

Pros

The retirement plan has a 10% match which is unheard of! From day one everyone was helpful in assisting with learning the science side of the business. The science and administrative staff mess well together. They celebrate staff each month for both birthdays and anniversaries.

Cons

The scientific learning curve if on the administrative side can be a lot. Expectations aren't always clearly communicated.

Potentially great place ruined by toxic leadership

Pros

Some great people and some great science but this varies from group to group. Facility is great and the campus is beautiful. Benefits are about on par with contemporary places.

Cons

The culture is incredibly toxic and comes directly from the director on down. She's a narcissist who regularly yells at people. Her highly unpredictable behavior makes it hard to work here and most seem to live in fear of her and her cronies. I think there's potential for it to be a great environment, which makes the current state sad. Very high turnover.

Pros

Some really nice fellow employees. Beautiful campus.

Cons

All of the flaws of academia with none of the benefits. Awful pay. Awful management. Bullying is the normal. Will shame you for making any attempt to have a life outside of the job. Constantly on display to donors, you will feel like you're an exhibit at a zoo. Lack of resources causes in-fighting. Building is not disability accessible. Too many useless meetings about how no one is working, which prevents people from working. Constant emails from management about how no one deserves to work there.
