    Pros

    Company culture, startup mentality, strong teamwork. Strong freight forwarding network and partners. Promote from within.

    Cons

    Resistance to change and innovation, sales and pricing can be weak. Constant change to sales & commissions structures

    Advice to Management

    Mainfreight needs to have a clear identity for the US and work to build a cohesive network. Needs to start at the top and be clearly communicated through the ranks. Cross training is needed, lots of legacy employees stuck doing only what they "know how" to do versus wearing the hat the branch needs at any given time.

    I have been working at Mainfreight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Mainfreight has good connections in the world of freight. Pricing is competitive and they pour money in IT/technology which is good. There is a laid back culture.

    Cons

    TOO many changes in the Sales structure. Can't trust what you are promised you'd be given because it changes constantly. And it's starting to really turn to be a unattractive role to be part of with Mainfreight. No forwarder is doing what they are and that's for a reason.

    Advice to Management

    Need better communication on any changes. Everything seems like a surprise. The excuse of the directors are pushing it all of a sudden is a crappy response. Don't make promises you can't keep.

    Pros

    Flexibility, ownership and creative space. There is a lot of ability to create your own destiny, especially if you work well in a low structure environment and like to get things done.

    Cons

    Consistently work a lot of hours to get everything done. The branches have the bulk of the responsibility, but not always the tools or resources they need. Not the best communication on what is going on in the company.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate goals, plans and expectations clearly, and often. When those change, make sure everyone knows.

    Pros

    Hard working Employees, satisfying and challenging work. Great place for gaining 6 months experience (then off to a reputable company)

    Cons

    Company believes profits should be gained by "shaving" overtime time pay and guilt tripping you into working for free... Instead of maintaining quality human capital, company prefers to hire less qualified employees who will work for free. Innovation is non existent at mainfreight, it is all a "make a quick dollar today" mentality.

    biggest con is the Los Angeles logistics "management". constant condescending to employees for not performing duties as expected by upper management.

    LA logistics is famous for its nuclear employee turnover rate, good human capital runs out of this place as soon as they realize MF of LA Logistics is the least qualified manager to work under.

    team morale is non existent, everyday you are understaffed and you are verbally berated by MF on a hourly basis. Management has NO accountability for team not working well.

    teams fall apart chronically due to good employees leaving so quickly.

    management is also famous for blacklisting employees from moving around company as punishment for MF not "liking" you.

    being "liked" in the company relates to how much overtime you are willing to work without pay, and how much you can put up with the immaturity of MF of la logistics.

    Advice to Management

    Move MF of mainfreight logistics OUT this company cannot grow without qualified leaders to manage teams PROPERLY and not abuse their own power.

    Pros

    Solid work ethic among the team members, company is very supportive in any aspect of increasing revenue. Great supporting staff in operations.

    Cons

    Sales team is inconsistent and unaware of the true workings of operations, which makes it very difficult to ensure consistency. Unsure as how to create brand. Extremely top heavy.

    Advice to Management

    Set out to establish brand and stick to it. Ensure that the entire organization is knowledgeable. Return to audits to ensure consistent customer experiences.
