Beware! Extremely Toxic

Pros

Paychecks were usually on time. Benefits were decent until half of them were taken away.

Cons

Red flags are abundant at MathCo. Company boasts about their culture on social media, but it’s all a facade. The most culture here is the trauma bonding that occurs at lower levels. Gaslighting, berating, and intimidation are common among senior staff. Folks in leadership have a tendency to play favorites. Extremely long working hours are common, and you’re expected to be available 24/7. The work-life balance is abysmal, and your life IS work. There is no benefit to overworking and burning yourself out. Pay raises were cancelled, promotions are non-existent, many hardworking employees were let go for wishy-washy reasons, and the rest of the staff were burdened with picking up the slack. Don’t believe the positive reviews of this company as they are all fake. The marketing team works endlessly to pump out fake reviews to cover up the negative ones. They rebranded to MathCo try to escape the consequences of leadership’s poor decision-making. Please do not join this company. If you join, be prepared to need therapy afterwards.

Opportunity has a Cost

Pros

1. There are some phenomenal people in the org. 2. Fast-paced and never bored. 3. Lot's of opportunities to show your work ethic. 4. Career launchpad with fascinating business use cases to solve.

Cons

1. They will tell you it's a culture where individuals matter, but that's all smoke and mirrors - it's a culture where you're expected to deliver on tasks for the client at any cost (corporations matter). It's like a mind farm where they'll milk you for all you're worth and then some more. Say goodbye to any idea of work-life balance. 2. Volatile management, I've had one incredible manager and one who makes me want to do deep sea exploring on a man-made submersible. The guy can only speak in corporate buzzwords and won't meet anyone at their level. 3. As you've read previously, you're treated mostly as an asset- not a human being with a rich life outside of work hours which can be any hour! You're replaceable unless you like working 12+ hours a day and weekends at times.

Pros

What's great about a star that exploded - nothing.

Cons

This rot in this company is so deep, Steven Spielberg is working on a vehicle that will aid him explore the depths. Absolute lack of accountability, capabilities, respect, empathy, direction, strategy with favoritism on steroids is absolutely magical to witness. We keep running experiences with marketing, growth, operations and it is very hard to differentiate that the state of this org is tragic or comical. The company has completely lost the plot. The leaders talk from a position of authority, throwing jargons after jargons. Close to a decade in business, the company still does not know what it is good at, what does it want to do, where does it want to go. However they know one thing really well - had a bad month - fire juniors. Had a worse month - promote favorites. Had the absolute worst month - go MIA.
