I worked at Mercy Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people there. Especially my co-workers (well, most of them). Good pay, good pension plan. Benefits OK, but I didn't like having BCN as being the only medical insurance option, effectively. BCN is very restrictive, in what they allow a patient to do.

    Cons

management company (URO) came in and was doing mass re-organization, thus higher levels of Management became more and more demanding about work output -- quantity became all important in our particular dept. Strict production quotas, becoming increasingly difficult / impossible to meet. Too much pressure and unrealistic expectation, no real communication with Dept Managers. More and more demands being placed upon us. Worse and worse place to work. Really a shame.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the older, and better values, your organization had before. Before URO (super corporate Management System / 'efficiency experts' ) corrupted your human values -- and made it all about money. Revenue.

I worked at Mercy Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is ok for part time, benefits were good.

    Cons

Drama. Women employees fighting, one even threatened me. Always short-handed. No-shows constantly. Poor quality of hired help.

    Advice to Management

Don't penalize good workers by expecting them to do the work of the no-shows and the slackers.

I have been working at Mercy Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Social workers are highly valued at Mercy Health. Mercy Health (in Michigan) is a fairly smaller hospital system in comparison to other area hospitals. Great PTO, accrues bi-weekly, and after being employed over 4 years, I am earning approximately 1 day (7.9 hours) per pay period

    Cons

Higher out of pocket costs for health care than many other comparable organizations in the area. Overall management is somewhat disorganized and disconnected from employees. PTO accrued includes sick days.
