RecommendsNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Mercy Health full-time for more than a year
Pros
Truly felt at home with my colleagues. I did get some control over my schedule (say when patients are late, choose what day to stay late in the office). Manager made it fairly easy to get time off if needed. I did feel salary was fair when I signed on.
Cons
Could never seem to keep support staff which made it difficult to run patients efficiently. No advertising for me as a primary care doctor made it difficult to build the practice. Has the usual EHR headaches. Administration doesn't seem to care about burnout for staff--hurdles to meet bonuses for "quality measures" are rarely able to be met in my experience.

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at Mercy Health full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
After working for multiple hospitals in the Grand Rapids area, working at Mercy Health Saint Mary's was wonderful. The HR department is responsive and helpful, the hospital administration develops policies that clearly benefit their employees, and management in the OR is conducive to the best nursing environment I have ever worked in. If you want to serve underserved populations, work in a big(ish) city, and have a small hospital feel, Saint Mary's is the place to work.
Cons
If you want to be on the cutting edge of healthcare and see things that you won't see at most other institutions, Saint Mary's won't satisfy that desire. While high-quality care is provided there, you won't be doing heart and lung transplants or seeing level 1 trauma patients.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Mercy Health full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
Pay is pretty competitive compared to other hospitals in the area
Cons
Horrible PT to RN ratios. Especially if you're a traveler....they will give you the worst assignment while staff sits around talking on their phone. No regard to PT safety

RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at Mercy Health
Pros
Pay, Benefits, Co workers, Mostly good relationship with other departments, Plenty of overtime, and a rapidly progressing department. Not having to work downtown.
Cons
Cafeteria is closed on the weekends for night shift, I wish their were specialization a within my department. Also some departments aren’t really aware of everything the Security Department does. Most just think of us strictly as guards, they have no idea that Mercy Health Officers are literally responding to the same types of calls that GRPD does.
