I worked at Michigan Automotive Compressor part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits according to those that get hired in. Also lots of overtime and the option to ask for even more hours is always available in case you hate having any home time. Great food court setup if you get the typical (Blue or Green) shifts where you can get properly served.

    Cons

Being on your feet for the 10-12 hour typical work day can be pretty tough without the right steel-toed footwear since two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch are all you get. Regardless of how hard you work it’ll take you anywhere from 6 to 36 months to get hired in and even then the pay is just ok, not great. The temps are paid very low hourly and treated pretty expendable for quite awhile if they make it. In the new hire orientation they are explained to for 90 minutes just about all the things that could get them fired. Even then though they have their favorites whom the rules are bent for. Management absolutely love to reprimand for anything! It also gets very hot in the summer and can be tough seeing so many enclosed areas with A/C while you sweat profusely.

    Advice to Management

Weatherize the place and get A/C everywhere. It’s a huge plant that makes A/C compressors for cars (2nd biggest on earth) even still, why is it ok to be hot in most of the plant in the Summer. Give every department a red shift so that people can work 8 hour days if they want and more if they ask. Raise the starting pay and you just might cut down on your turnover. Pay attention for the corrupt management and MACI staff with superiority complexes. Hire people in quicker. The goal should be to not even need a staffing company. I certainly think MACI could do much better than Anchor Staffing regardless.

    Pros

Good insurance benefits and relatively clean plant floor and nice cafeteria and some people that work very hard day in and day out despite of how they have been treated by executives.

    Cons

Upper management makes decisions that will benefit them individually. Many unethical practices are allowed to happen as HR looks the other way. The company’s upper management are not effective leaders.

    Advice to Management

Make management accountable, especially executive level.

I have been working at Michigan Automotive Compressor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Job security, decent pay, benefits, fairly clean.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities , no diversity in management, HR, and skilled trades. No a/c for floor associates except the lines that are enclosed. No incentives for 20+ year associates other than a small gift from a catalogue or small cash amount. No profit share, small bonuses (being the #1 company in the market).

    Advice to Management

Need some diversity in the ranks, all and up as well as HR.

I worked at Michigan Automotive Compressor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the work was steady and there was plenty of overtime available. the work environment was safe and well maintained. the benefit package was fair.

    Cons

the climate control was a problem in the summer and it would get to hot. the no fault point system was a problem for me, i was terminated because my house burned down....i was terminated due to absences related to my house burning down. i was terminated over 1/2 a point.

    Advice to Management

next time someone has their house burn down try to bend the rules, it was horrible to go through the loss of my residence and then be terminated because of it. i am still bitter about it.

I worked at Michigan Automotive Compressor full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

loads of overtime and breaks throughout the day. A good place to get your foot in the door to manafacturing.

    Cons

It's very hard to actually stay at a certain job in the factory because everyone talks bad to your supervisor for petty reasons. I was fired from a job inside for asking for help taking out the scrap from a machine. Because my co-worker said that I hurt my back which never happened.

    Advice to Management

Don't just listen to your hired in employees because half of the time their lying to you just to make their job easier because they don't want to work with a new person.
