I worked at Modine Manufacturing (More than a year)

    Pros

Modine makes a good effort to treat Coops like full time employees. For example Coops are given holiday pay after they've worked there for 30 days. Other than that you are given meaningful projects to work on and for the most part you are always busy. Quality equipment and software for the engineering department.

    Cons

Lots of wasted time. The communication between Application and Manufacturing Engineering is poor. I can't count how many times I'd be working on tooling for a product whose design was already changed without notifying my team. Many times this was just the nature of the work, but it was frustrating never-the-less.

The HR department is a revolving door. In the 6 months or so I was there I talked to 3 different HR reps. This led to HR not knowing company policies about Internships as well as not being able to build and maintain relationships with Coops. I know for a fact this led to many qualified people leaving and getting full-time employment elsewhere.

Final point, don't expect a job offer at the end. Very rarely does Modine hire Coops at the end of their term. This probably is do to its financial strength right now but its something all new hires should be aware of.

I have been working at Modine Manufacturing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Stable company
    Good salary
Good amount of holidays, including a week long shut down around Christmas
Good place for young engineers to cut their teeth

    Cons

    Top heavy
Management is extremely hindsight driven, no matter what you do, you should have done something different
Not much room for movement within the company
New ideas are brushed off for "best practices" without much consideration

    Advice to Management

Managers make all of the project decisions, fine. However, projects would run a lot smoother if management just told their people what they want, instead of asking open ended questions only to correct the task solution which then requires double work and double time.

Management was great. Cared about employees. No excessive time commitments. Encouraged growth and upward mobility.

    Cons

Raises are pretty flat, and not directly tied to performance. Insurance is high for the lower paying jobs.

I worked at Modine Manufacturing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, inexpensive health insurance if you are in a union plant and good people.

    Cons

Management are a bunch of two headed snakes, they hire people for management positions that have no business running a powered tooth brush let alone anything else.

    Advice to Management

Haha Trump 2016! Didn't see that coming did you. Bring the jobs back to the states and try using some common sense and there would be no need to outsource. This company has more waste due to complete ignorance than you can even imagine.

    Pros

They are not pushy to get work done in less time.
They work as a team & open to new ideas.

    Cons

They seem to have no idea how contractors work.

    Advice to Management

As per the contract, if a contractor gives required weeks of resignation notice and delivers a proper KT to all the work he/she has done, you are bound to pay the travelling and consulting fees. Even I have the approved time sheets & expense sheets. Please don't try to bring personal prejudice into this.
