I have been working at Moffitt Cancer Center full-time (More than a year)
It is a wonderful place to work, with friendly patients, coworkers, and benefits!
The pay is not extremely competitive

Flexible hours (at least in research they are); decent pay (usually about mid-range for comparable positions across the US); okay benefits; large well-known organisation with good mission.
They are all about who you know and how close you (or your manager) is with the senior management. I call it "Big Boy's Club" (and I have 7+ years of experience to support that statement). Also, your pay will very much depend on that too (I know people got paid 20% more for exactly the same position, because their boss was close to the "Big Boys"). They say that there is "market analysis" to support the pay which is true, but of course there are endless ways to bend that truth if need be.
—A very faster pace environment, but I liked my job. Moffit cross trains all techs in all areas, so you have a variety of tasks instead of the same old same.. From Pyxis Delivery to pulling narcs to making chemo.
— Working with some great pharmacists and other pharmacy techs.
— management really tries to work with people schedules.
— not competitive pay. They pay less then other hospitals in the area by a lot!
— There is a lot of animosity between shifts, and feels like working with a bunch of high schoolers... There is often fighting between techs..
—- Lack of leadership means a lot of work is dumped on a few people instead of everyone doing their fairshare..
Advice to Management
Provide better supervision of staff, and be more competitive with salary.

Benefits, job security, co-workers. The institution has a very good reputation, and upper management has modern forward thinking, including investing in employees to lower turnover rates.
Management not managing the workload on employees, and not hiring enough resources for growth. Long hours without relief leads to lower work life balance satisfaction.

Organization is OK, Blind following blind, somehow the system is working. May be because of excess of state and federal funding !
So much efforts to raise charity via Miles for Moffitt but more than what is raised is wasted in poor planning, constant renovations in almost all departments, departments are consistently moving from one building to another. A lot of wastage--no good supervision of departmental finances.
Advice to Management
Some of the middle managers have given very bad name to the organization. No good supervision of the middle management. HR is very passive, can't take any action for the improvement of the departments. HR is not doing a good job in the selection process of hiring skillful supervisors and managers. Employee Surveys are done often but has no value : employees voice is not heard. some of the labs have revolving door of hiring and loosing their employees. Employee retention is poor only because of poor supervisors, managers.
upper management is too occupied for the title of Moffitt as "Best Places to work" but not paying much attention on employees' complains and employee survey results and exit interviews.

Competitive pay and great work environment
If you're not familiar with healthcare systems, the learning curve can be difficult.
Great family oriented and work environment. Great benefits as well.
Working with cancer patients and getting close to see them pass away is the hardest.

Good hours, great coworkers, so many company benefits for the employees and plenty of room
Wish there was more flexibility in certain lab departments as far as hours.

Departments don’t like to play well with other departments
