I have been working at MutualBank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great culture of working well together as a team. Strong vision of helping and giving back to the community. Driven for results while balancing a healthy work-life balance. Generous vacation time, generous 401(k) employer match, opportunities to earn incentives, ongoing training, caring leadership team, provides growth from within.

    Cons

No place is perfect and any "cons" are not unique to MutualBank. Management does a great job considering the impact on employees in its decision making. The culture is a little slow to embrace change. It's possible there could be efficiency found in systems, better collaboration, and greater use of technology.

    Advice to Management

I would encourage Management to continue to learn, grow and develop in their roles, understand changing trends in management (and leadership) to most effectively lead and manage teams.

I have been working at MutualBank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Strong focus on community. Exceptionally supportive of staff. Emphasis on training and development. Outstanding benefits.

    Cons

Slow to respond to market trends. Can sometimes be too focused on area where bank is headquartered.

    Advice to Management

    Be more nimble; more decisive.

I worked at MutualBank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Friendly, long term employees. Job security for most people.

    Cons

Senior leadership does not embrace change well. Company has been around for over 100 years and senior leaders have been there since high school, for many this is the only company they have worked for. Unwilling to make necessary changes to grow company unless it is their idea.

    Advice to Management

allow new blood to have some ability to affect change

I worked at MutualBank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Absolutely wonderful customers, enjoyed the coworkers immensely. Appropriate growth for younger employees, flexible schedule in certain positions. Well organized training sessions - easily outlined position responsibilities.

    Cons

While the responsibilities for positions were easily outlined - many times they were not the extent of duties required of the employee, often times with no additional pay or any raise at all. Did not feel appreciated as an employee by several members of the VP and Management teams. Often overlooked for promotions and opportunities due to the "hands" of management getting involved where they were not needed, and often due to favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your loyal employees more, provide adequate raises when warranted, and promote those that show promise and consistency, not those that are "favorites" and ushered in.

I worked at MutualBank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent amount of vacation time, flexible scheduling

    Cons

You don't get paid enough to bother. You tend to work the jobs of multiple people for minimal pay. Advancements are hard to come by because of blatant favoritism. Work life balance is horrible. VERY stressful environment.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees fairly and pay them enough to live on.

I worked at MutualBank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Schedules are always set ahead of time. Easy to ask for specific days off. Know what is expected every day.

    Cons

Employees get bored. No where to move up. Raises stop after a few trainings. Raises are low and not motivating. Management in each branch have power trip issues. Management doesn't abide by same rules as tellers. Lowest paying bank teller position in the area. Most other banks in the area start out at $11/hour or more for teller positions.

    Advice to Management

If you want more from your employees, you need to do the same. Lead by example.

I have been working at MutualBank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    -Family friendly culture
-Paid time off to go to doctor and dentist (incluing for your child or parent)
    -4% match on 401k
    -Funding of HSA for employees
-Cover more than 1/2 of medical insurance premium
    -Incentive compensation for all employees

    Cons

-Sometimes have difficulty letting long-time employees go even if poor performance warrants termination
-Because of size, approx 420 employees, company is not a trendsetter but does attempt to follow trend leaders. If a potential employee needs that kind of environment, it won't be found here.
