Need to stay a little more focused

    Pros

PEOPLE (although most are sadly gone). Fantastic working environment. People were a real joy to work with. Beautiful office and surroundings

    Cons

Sadly this place has become a ghost town. Layoff after layoffs (poorly planned, rumors, no real vision)

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to people who specialize in a certain areas of expertise.

I worked at MyLife full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The location of the office was good - right on Wilshire. There was a decent party culture, so people went for drinks after work and hung out. Halloween is very fun with a huge party, and Easter has a pretty intense easter egg hunt in the office.

    Cons

Management is delusional about the value of their product.
The entire company is built on a subscription model that doesn't fulfill the promise of finding out if anyone is searching for you for free.
It's a paid service and you don't realize you will be billed for 6 months up front.
There was a high level of complaints from customers. No leadership. No chance for professional development.

    Advice to Management

Build something of value instead of trying to dupe users into spending money with you.

I have been working at MyLife full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free food 3 days a week, good down to earth smart people to work with. Highly collaborative environment. Great office space and views. Fun parties and the company does charitable contributions a few times a year. Company pays for parking - lots of shops around since company is in Westwood by UCLA. Monthly company meetings so people are in the know of what's happening in short and long term objectives.

    Cons

Commute - but is LA so what can you expect.

    Advice to Management

Would like work from home flexibility periodically

I have been working at MyLife full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Food on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's.

    Cons

Jeff Tinsley, the CEO, is the reason why MyLife will never succeed. He is a high stake gambler who throws the company's money away by developing half-baked ideas.

    Advice to Management

    Replace the CEO...

    Pros

people are really cool. Happy hours and free breakfast. office is really nice and location is awesome. company culture is pretty good.

    Cons

Hiring Monte as Chief Technical Officer ruined everything. People leave with disappointment. High turn over followed with unstable upper management.

    Advice to Management

Hope things getting better, they are rebuild the brand, but seem as the marketing can not push them to a different level.

"Good work environment -- too bad the product is not as good"

    • Senior Management
Former Employee - Product Manager in Los Angeles, CA
Former Employee - Product Manager in Los Angeles, CA
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - Catered lunches
    - Bagle/fruit provided free
    - Relaxed dress code
    - Flat organization
    - Weekly all-hands meetings foster communication (though I'm not sure if they still have these)
    - Great holiday parties and for special events (Jeff knows how to have a good time!)

    Cons

    - Benefits are mediocre (health ins. premium cost to employee is expensive if covering spouse/family) - it's a small company though, so this shouldn't surprise anyone -- negotiate for the highest salary you can to make up for this.
    - HR function is barely present
    - No match on 401K (again, given current economic climate, not a surprise)
    - Company changes strategic direction quite frequently
    - Product does not deliver what it promises, thus, is misleading to the consumer

    Advice to Management

    Pros

compensation, some genuinely nice people, company doing well financially, most folks enjoy their jobs pretty well, work/life balance is good, as are hours; decent enough idea with positive contribution to society; company has succeeded where others haven't, departments cooperate well together, good technology, pretty clear idea of where the company is headed

    Cons

priorities and tasks are constantly changing, lack of recognition for work accomplished, lack of equity for staff, lack of marketing, too many decisions made by consensus; benefits aren't so good (especially for insuring families, too expensive), inconvenient office location to commute to, not enough staff for the number of projects

    Advice to Management

develop the equity pool and share, recognize individual achievement, allow people to finish their tasks without more new unscheduled tasks being delivered to us

    Pros

Great view from the spacious and expensive office. Some really nice people, but a lot of them are gone. Free food and beverages.

    Cons

Excessive layoffs without severance, job security issues, little room for growth, money problems. The company doesn't have a very good reputation, either.

    Advice to Management

Applicants should be careful before deciding to work here. Half of this small, already understaffed, company was laid off without warning and were not provided severance pay in August 2016. Many of those let go had been with them for many years and had families to support. They have had many rounds of layoffs recently, which followed a similar pattern (large number of layoffs followed by small hiring sprees shortly after followed by financial worries).

Applicants should read other reviews by former employees, as well as those written by consumers for this company, so they know what to expect and don't get burned. There are no longer any C level members other than the CEO. They resigned some time ago and were never replaced. Current management reports directly to the CEO for all facets of the business. One should not have to wonder why this company has had so many problems.
