I have been working at Nemak full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been working at Nemak for a couple years now, and I think that they offer their employees a lot. They have tuition reimbursement, multiple types of training from entry level, to supervisor level, to mid-manager level, to manager level. There is a lot of room for advancement & they really allow for internal growth & promotion.

    Cons

Nemak has some long hours, and depending on who your manager is, they are not very flexible with those hours.
There are also still some employees who have an "old school mentality" which really makes them difficult to work with.

    Advice to Management

I think there could be a change in having flex hours- as long as you are available for a certain amount of core hours.

I worked at Nemak full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nemak has good health benefits at a reasonable cost to the employee. The company does do a decent job at the annual company picnic. Had to come up with something because there is a twenty word minimum.

    Cons

. I know this should go without saying, but all of the comments in this review are my opinion and are based on my experiences from long term employment with this company.
. Very corrosive and adversarial culture fostered from the tops site management with nothing apparent being done by Corporate Management. I believe this is because the WI site has been meeting and/or exceeding our profitability goals for the past several years
    . Very low morale
. Several times I was aware of myself or others would be treated badly and when brought to managements attention the response was to deal with it and let it go and not to stir the pot. Overall there was a lack of accountability
. A lot of siloization between departments and even between the same departments at the different plants. As well as siloization within departments. In some areas this behavior was even fostered
. High employee turnover, both salaried and hourly
. Many times upper management would not follow through on what they said they were going to do
. There is way to much favoritism and politics
. Very little time for skills training because in a lot of areas there were not enough personnel to allow for this
. Too much overtime with no light at the end of the tunnel
. Not enough personnel in some departments to do much more than firefight issues
. Poor communication within the plants in Wisconsin as well as from Corporate Headquarters
. Insufficient funding to launch new programs and told to make due with the funding we were given.
. In a lot of cases there was no opportunity for career path planning because there just wasn’t any opportunities

    Advice to Management

There are so many things to fix just pick something and start. The key, I believe, is to follow up on what you say you’re going to do and start to repair the damage. Like a smoker it’s never to late to start and to see the benefits. I truly believe this can be a good company to work for, but management has a long road ahead of them in order to restore the trust and confidence of its employees. Good Luck.

Good pay, lots of opportunity to try new things. 8 occurences that renew every 60 days.

Very dirty, unsafe facility. Supervisors sought numbers and did not care about the safety aspect. Not allowed to drink water while at work station.

I have been working at Nemak full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Laid back job responsibilities, awesome supervisor, great benfits

    Cons

Favoritism, "Dog eat dog," environment, not a diverse work force

    Advice to Management

Review who's in supervision roles and complaints against them more, try to reward workers more for sacrificing their free-time and well-being to be at work.
