I worked at Next Generation Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work while in school or when you're not looking to make very much money or be appreciated as an employee. Meet new people, great job to learn a basic sales process and grow your own personal network.

    Cons

Extreme turn over so you will end up having to work shifts you were not originally assigned and working long hours, a 10+ hour day is not uncommon. This turn over is mostly due to the fact that they will literally hire anyone off the street. Little to no chance to move up in the company, especially if you are young and a female- they mostly hire outside which leads to their turn over issue. Expectations are either set too high or are incredibly unclear. There is no accountability in ANY aspect of this job, some employees will be able to show up late or call in sick every single week and nothing will be done, while others will be disciplined as per policy. The hourly pay is mediocre at best, especially for the long hours and flexibility that is demanded of you. Speaking as someone who was there for a long time and advanced into management, there are a lot of unethical practices that happen on a daily basis- I.e. Managers disappearing for multiple hours during the day or not going to the store they said they were, using company resources for personal gain, and other activities. Overall the environment is extremely unprofessional, unorganized, and stressful. I would not recommend wasting your time here.

    Advice to Management

Work on cultivating better relationships with your employees- they should be able to see that you are working just as hard as you at the very least. ACCOUNTABILTY!!! Show everyone the same amount of respect, and if you are going a disciplinary route make sure it's exhibited with every offender. Be professional. Spend more time on the hiring & training process. Don't make promises you can't keep. PROMOTE FROM WITHIN. Give those who want to advance an opportunity to succeed- if they say they need support, spend as much time with them as possible.

I have been working at Next Generation Wireless full-time

    Pros

Good company, co- workers are good, good hours, nice foot traffic.

    Cons

Management could be better, lots of turnover, training new hires needs to be more accurate, better commission structure, no favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Don't show favortism, know what open door policy is and stand by it!! Managers don't leave for hours and come back for an hour then go home for the day. Don't yell at associates on the sales floor take them into the back room to talk to them. Don't threaten associates.

    Pros

If taking care of customers and true sales is rewarding to you then this is the company for you. This is not a job....it's a career. This position rewards you for hard work and cares about the people.

    Cons

If you don't want to take care of customers and have no desire to sell this place is not for you.

    Pros

If you are really good at sales, you definitely have potential to make good commissions. Lots of hours if that's what your looking for.

    Cons

Was suppose to be part time, required to work almost 40 hours a week, while I was a full time college student. Us Cellular (who next generation sells for) was going really down hill at the time, so we losing customers left and right, which means our paychecks went down. With Next Gen you make minimum wage, and then commissions if you reach your goals. My advice, if you can work with a corporate store instead of an agent location, do it. You'll make more money and deal with the same amount of crap.

I have been working at Next Generation Wireless part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    offer benefits to full-time associates.

    Cons

This is a company built on lies. They say they are for the employee, but all they care about is if they are making money. They have shut down 3-4 storesI within the 3 years I have worked for the company. Half of the problem is they very rarely hire from within. They hire someone off the street with lack of experience. Their turnover rate is atrocious with a turnover of every 6 months. They play favorites. If you aren't performing to their standards you are doing it on purpose. If you are you are doing it unethically. This is coming from management.

    Advice to Management

Hire from within your company instead of having amateurs run your company. The worst part is anything that happens including employees confidence all information is never kept secret. I have witnessed an actual manager show another employee not in the same position as her an employee's write up. Which is highly unprofessional, and they have this person running a store.
