I worked at Nikon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with photographers in a creative industry is exciting.

    Cons

Average tenure of staff is something like 28 years. Lots of "we've always done it like this" and "that's not how the Japanese want to do it" not enough concern for the US market and autonomy. Products are too engineering driven and behind the times.

    I worked at Nikon full-time

    Pros

Generous paid holiday plan. Good work hours. Decent pay.

    Cons

No room for advancement, Nikon corp management in Japan is behind the game in forseeing future advancements in technology. They need to be more transparent. Alot of favoritism, neptotism at the US headquarters. Very poor teamwork between departments. Executive managers are rude and unfriendly. Medical plan is too expensive and the deductible is too high many employees can't afford to use the benefit.

    Advice to Management

Get employees of all departments to understand that their performance directly effects customer service and satisfaction. Stop playing favorites. You have too many managers in certain departments.
