    Field Service Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Nikon (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)) in July 2017.

    Interview

Recruiter reached out to me about the opportunity. Standard telephone interview, then invited to in person interview a week later. Nice guy taking the interview, although staff in the building where it was held had no knowledge of interviews happening, had to wait 30 minutes for them to find the room. When leaving the interview was told I would hear back within a week. Two weeks passed and I emailed the recruiter, was then assured I would hear back within a few days. 3 weeks since the email and still no word. Company seems very disorganised.

    Spare Parts Assistant Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Kingston upon Thames, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Nikon (Kingston upon Thames, England (UK)).

    Interview

    Had an interview with HR.
She was almost threatening from the word go. Not a nice interview. I got told I should expect the work to be demanding, and that the last person who had the job was perfect.
I got asked a lot of questions that I shouldn't get asked in an interview, about my last job salary (I said it was less than this but didn't give the figure because I don't have to), what my husband did for work, whether we had any children or dependants.
All questions I don't have to answer at interviews. I didn't. I think this is probably why I did not get offered the job.

    Finance Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Nikon (London, England (UK)) in June 2016.

    Interview

I met with two senior managers twice. The first time was for an introductory conversation which was informal, yet constructive and professional. On the second occasion, I met with the same people, plus one other senior manager, where I again had very constructive discussions. Additionally, I presented a previously prepared presentation followed by a Q&A session as well as undertaking a business case study (no prior presentation was allowed) where I had to present my recommendations under a role playing scenario, again followed by Q&A. Although the process was challenging, at all stages I found the Nikon staff and HR to be professional, friendly, honest and open; therefore, I generally enjoyed the experience. It is obvious from my interaction with them and general observations that they genuinely attempt to create a rewarding, fair, but challenging and enjoyable work environment

I believe that if they want to hire somebody who can communicate well in english they should have HRs who can communicate in the same language. It seemed like the hr and senior executive where talking to each other without asking any reasonable questions

    Product Manager Interview

Anonymous Employee in Kingston upon Thames, England (UK)
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nikon (Kingston upon Thames, England (UK)) in August 2014.

    Interview

Stage one: initia meeting with a member of the team. Bit of a waste of time. Essentially a "does your face fit" exercise. Team member unqualified to interview

Stage Two: Presentation based on a case study provided on the day (no pre-prep). Around the profitability and performance of a cinema. Role play question and answer which was well handled

Then 45 minute interview questions with the MD and senior product manager which were standard questions. Very professionally handled.

Then 20 minutes with HR. A traumatic feedback session on how I was "overqualified" and "overconfident" where I was asked incredibly personal questions around relationships and family planning. Very unprofessional
