Nepotism and scary workplace culture.

Pros

Chicago HQ office is nice.

Cons

During my tenure, I observed a significant amount of nepotism and office politics that greatly affected the work environment at October three. There is little to no emphasis on diversity, equity, or inclusion at the company. This lack of commitment to DEI initiatives creates a non-inclusive atmosphere that negatively affects morale. Internal efforts to change this were labeled as inflammatory and unnecessary as they did not fit the “brand.” The benefits are terrible, with no 401k match, no PTO rollover, and an offensive parental leave policy that provides minimal support to new parents. Healthcare coverage is inadequate, and professional development opportunities are virtually non-existent. The company loves to boast about its entrepreneurial culture, which, for someone who prefers autonomy, may initially seem enticing. In reality, it's just an excuse to provide no structure and avoid clearly defining roles. There is no redirection or coaching and their approach leads to constant chaos and a blame culture where employees are left to fend for themselves without any real support or guidance. If you are a self-directed individual who requires no expectations, no support, and can read minds, this may be the place for you. Otherwise, you may want to consider another, more established workplace with real leadership, transparent policies, and a genuine commitment to employee well-being. The pervasive culture of nepotism, lack of accountability, and disregard for employee concerns make October Three a challenging and demoralizing place to work.

Pros

Plenty of growth opportunities. Hard work Is rewarded. Opinions are listened too.

Cons

Do not observe all national holidays and seem to ignore importance of MLK and Juneteenth. No training program because that would reduce billable hours. Waste money on flying and paying for employees to travel and in the same breathe say profitability gets in the way of training program and better holiday/PTO packages.

Pros

Most people in the Administrative Practice department (Jacksonville) are decent hard-working people, great to work with, and gets the job done through mostly busy times of the year.

Cons

OG group mentality seem to take precedence, leaving new employees (<3 yrs in) feeling like outsiders looking in. Favoritism for a few OG personnel is obvious, which fosters resentment from others and results in high turnover rate. Invested $$$ in a bigger office space that is half -full. Only allows one (1) day per week WFH. Minimal paid holidays (8) and PTO (15) compared to other companies and industry standards. For a pension and financial services company there is no pension plan for employees and no 401K match to speak of.
