There are 2 types of managers at OffWorld, the completely hands off, and the completely hands on.
The completely hands on is really terrible, has an ego analogously sized ego to the greatest dictators of all time, and will do anything to make themself a winner, regardless of the stakes. A true Machiavelian protostudy.
The other kind of manager is completely vacant, exists only as a figure head. These are the one(s) you want to work for, because you can basically get away with anything you want to. Want to work from home arbitrarily? No problem. Want to take weeks of PTO at a time while the rest of the team covers you? Not an issue! All you have to say is that you're doing it, and it can be done.
The facility hasn't been updated since the 1960s. Need 120V AC power? Good luck; run an extension cord! Need a bathroom? There's only one male bathroom for 30+ male employees (that gets cleaned).
Everything about OffWorld is gilded and fake. From the technology, to the resources available. Need a ladder? Use the old broken one that still kind of works. Need a support for a super heavy object? Don't use the right equipment, use some kind of wood or scrap that you find laying around. I could go on.
