I have been working at Plantronics full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

Challenging work environment with opportunities to build the processes for the integrated Polycom and Plantronics (now Poly) companies.

      Cons

Growing pains at the moment during the integration (restructuring, process alignment, culture alignment, etc.) which are putting a big workload on everyone and strain on work life balance. Hoping this is temporary and evens out once we stabilize post integration.

Flexible work hours/work from home options

      Cons

Some uncertainty as merger between PLT and PLCM solidifies.

I worked at Plantronics full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Great people and some interesting projects involving hardware, firmware, software, and services. Plantronics benefits are better than legacy Polycom.

      Cons

Different projects are very compartmentalized with little cross-pollination. Merger favored Plantronics people and projects over Polycom.

      Advice to Management

Be more up-front with your employees, and take a longer view of the market.

I have been working at Plantronics full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Reputable product (Plantronics), beautiful campus, location

      Cons

Job insecurity with the migration of two companies. Plantronics acquired Polycom, but you'd never be able to tell. Unclear on the direction the company is heading and leadership is not being as transparent as they claim to be.

      Advice to Management

      Deliver on being transparent.

I worked at Plantronics full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

The people with whom you work are brilliant, diverse, interesting, positive and mutually supportive.

      Cons

      * Workloads are comically, painfully excessive, and after the acquisition, layoffs are exacerbating the situation. * Training is 90% through self study, and expected during one's free time. With a steep learning curve and huge portfolio of products to support, this means virtually all of one's free time must be devoted to studying to stay current. You have been warned! * Management is ad hoc and arbitrary, and can include...

I worked at Plantronics full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

-work from home policy -certain talent shines -free food once a month

      Cons

-aging commoditized tech and internal systems -integration with Polycom means most do two jobs -salary and equity not competitive with rest of valley

      Advice to Management

You will have trouble attracting young talent unless you refresh your internal process and technology and provide some kind of perks. Years ago the company had a great culture that has decayed significantly over time especially with the Polycom acquisition. Quite frankly, this is no longer a fun place to work and people spend all day and night at meetings and answering email.

      Pros

Great, dedicated employees. That's why none of us will quit--great team. Reliable products. Work from home policy. Pay is good. Senior management is visionary

      Cons

Morale is at an all time low after the lay offs. Those who kept their jobs are scrambling to clean up Ground Zero. The extra work and endless meetings has made it hell to balance work and family life. We could sit at our desks for 10 hours and still not get half way through our emails--if we were allowed to excuse ourselves from a meeting to check your emails, that is. You can imagine the level of satisfaction among...

      Advice to Management

Most of us could tolerate the chaos if we have good leadership--and I'm talking at the director level, specifically. Please take a very hard look at your middle managers. Who is leading and who is managing? There is a profound difference.

I have been working at Plantronics full-time for more than 6 years

        Pros

Nice campus, still some nice people to work with. Decent benefit package.

        Cons

It feels like Polycom acquired Plantronics and not vice versa. The Plantronics culture has vanished and headsets don't seem to be a priority. Change can be good but the transition has been poorly planned and executed leaving lots of unanswered questions on a daily basis even months after the acquisition.
