Pros

Some very dedicated people in the country offices and field offices some great and knowledgeable individuals. Some interesting project work.

Cons

And some truly awful people. Many cases of bullying, poor practice, double standards, rude and arrogant individuals especially in the senior leadership team and the UK P&C team is horrendous. Not a people focused organisation, not interested in staff wellbeing or development they did have a leadership development course but senior management pulled it before it even took off. Ridiculous Reward training. Good Safegurding training but everything online and your never given time to do it anyway so no development opportunity. They keep reorganising making people redundant but still actively recruiting. If your face fits your ok. Avoid at all costs there are much nicer orgs in this sector to work for.

Pros

- Most staff are genuinely decent, talented with a number being excellent to work with and doing the best they can in a challenging world for NGOs globally. - Decent pay for the charity sector and remote/flexible working is a big plus. - Ambitious goals, cares about impact and does excellent work on the front line.

Cons

- Reduced resourcing / small teams means consistent heavy workloads and over-reliance on a small number of key staff as the norm. - Limited opportunities for upward career progression or to think beyond the day to day. - Occasions of poor internal communication on key decisions so certain teams are excluded. Quality of experience varies a lot by which department you work within. - Process change and new approaches are be slow/difficult as there is a tendency to over complicate and under commuicate. - Top down management - it is not as person centred as they want to be. Starting to be more corporate in style of leadership.
