Nothing is good about Procare

Pros

Nothing is good about Procare. It's sad to see how much this company has changed over the past 18 months. It was once an incredible company with very strong vison, mission, and values.

Cons

It starts with the leadership and continues downhill from there.

Loyal to a fault, for too long

Pros

The product solves a real problem, and for a long time the mission felt genuinely worth showing up for. The people doing the actual work reflected that. Day-to-day, you were surrounded by teammates who cared about the mission and each other. That culture at the ground level was real.

Cons

Pay has been below market for years and the dial never moved in any meaningful way. Staying felt worth it because the mission was real and the people were good. But after six-plus years, leadership eliminated the entire teams and followed it up with a small merit increase as if that settled the score. It didn’t. At some point it became impossible to ignore that staff were being treated like numbers, not people.

New parental leave policy is discouraging for future parents

Pros

I appreciate the mission, the talented people here, and the impact our software has on schools, daycares, families, and educators. There is a lot to be proud of in the work itself.

Cons

A recent policy change requires employees who take parental leave to return to work for six months or repay the leave compensation they received. As a current employee, I think future parents should know this upfront because it adds financial pressure during an already vulnerable time. It feels especially ironic at a company whose software directly serves children, families, and educators. It also feels out of step with the direction many strong tech employers are moving in, with more generous parental leave and family support.
