I worked at Progressive Recruitment full-time

    Pros

Quick to find you if they need CV's.

    Cons

Poor communications. Callback requests are almost never followed-up, usual reason being "the requested person is in a meeting". This is definitely not the most professional recruiting agency. This agency behaves like an old-fashioned "CV shuffler".

    Advice to Management

Clean up your act and start behaving professionally and start adding value to your customers.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Progressive Recruitment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good incentives - lunch club, plenty of competitions and summer/winter holidays.
Training scheme is good and big focus on this
Working for a stable company (in the main)
    Social place to work

    Cons

Some people make lots of money, most don't.
KPIs for the sake of it. Doesn't matter if you upset clients or candidates as long as you registered a D Job/Current Manager.
Very poor commission structure compared to the rest of the industry.
Goes through cycles of rebuilding and then losing people
Lose a lot of work due to high fees needed as minimum

    Advice to Management

More flex on the type of roles you work

I worked at Progressive Recruitment (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are none! You even have to wait a month before being paid!!!! (The whole point in Contracting through a agent is to be paid weekly!)

    Cons

Not enough space to write! Underhanded, rip off, liers, thieving... You will be ripped off with your rates both yourself and the customer. Like all agents they do nothing for there money. When I questioned on the such big cut they took, I was talked down to that I shouldn't be asking these questions and I shouldn't be so greedy and they have a lot of things to pay for, like the company cars! (A Porsche was one of them!) They had screwed me and the customer and I went to talk, I told them that they had not represented me and I was sacking them and they threatened me with court told them to go ahead. The customer who's management I got on with very well wanted to take me on direct and they then threatened them if they did they would sue even though they had been found out how little of the rate they where paying to the contractors and why a lot of them were so disgruntled! One positive they lost the contract to supply contractors there! They arnt known as aggressive progressive for nothing! Please please take heed and stay away!

    Advice to Management

Close shop, I am absolutely astonished that you still going!

    Pros

None that I can honestly think of aside from the client list the somehow maintain besides clearly stiffing contractors every chance they get

    Cons

Very unprofessional and shady business ethics, a nightmare to deal with, refuse to use any other form of communication other than rushed phone calls. I was pressured to accept their offer, which the client hadn't even made yet, even though I had a competing offer on the table.
Take the biggest commission on contracts of an recruitment agency I've ever worked with, as an example the contract they had with the client was charged at £420 a day with the contractor getting £320, that's roughly 25% commission which is 10% over industry standard(which in many opinion in the IT contracting sector is still far to high for companies that essentially do zero work). When confronted about the frankly huge margins they simply denied it and I was told I was being greedy by blowing the whistle on their unacceptable practices.

    Advice to Management

I suspect these practices start at the top and feed down to the account managers and recruiters so there's not much to add. I will not be using ProgressiveUK ever again and will warn clients to steer clear

    Cons

Manager didn't have a clue how to do the job or manage people
Office Administrator micromanages the office and is on a serious power trip
They tax your bonus at 30% for some reason

    Advice to Management

Promote people on merit rather than whos face fits

    Pros

Great training programme for graduates and organic growth model which allows individuals to developer their careers at a quick pace

    Cons

Brand name not got a great reputation on the market which can sometimes be a barrier to winning new customers

    Advice to Management

Ease up on the heavy KPI focus which can sometimes mean performing taks for the sake of it and upsetting potential customers/contacts
