I have been working at Progressive Recruitment full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This is a company that values people who work hard, and show results. Being committed to this company is being committed to an endless amount of opportunity. I am not on the sales floor, but in proving my value to the company they have given me so much. I'm forever grateful for this job. It's not a place that's going to hold your hand. It's a place that is going to give you all the tools you need to build a successful...

    Cons

I think that most sales companies have a lot of pressure on the sales floor, but that is the nature of sales. Generating income has a level of pressure to it. I think this is a job where you have to stick around for a bit to reap the rewards, so if you are looking for instant gratification, this isn't the job for you.

    Advice to Management

I think that in general, you have a wide array of expertise levels, and people who find success in different ways at the company. Yes, sales is duplicable, but I also think it's honing in on different strengths to make the dream team. Be open and flexible to people's working styles, and in giving your employees that trust it will become a self selecting process. Either the employee will stay or leave, but it's not your...

        I worked at Progressive Recruitment

        Pros

The office is in the heart of downtown, and for anyone just graduating college who doesn't know what to expect from "corporate america" (kind of) this opportunity sounds intriguing! Most of the new hires end up living together to cut rent costs and they definitely encourage colleagues to become friends and try to promote strong team bonds.

        Cons

Unfortunately, because most of the new hires are recent college grads with no other corporate experience, they absolutely use and abuse them! The pay is unbelievably low - the base pay is $30,000 which comes out to $14/hr - now add in the fact that they don't pay parking which is minimum $150/month and your down to living on $2300/month BEFORE tax! It's sales - so i could deal with the money issue, it's management that...

        Advice to Management

Revamp the management team. The last 5 years should have indicated the problem stems from the TOP down.

I worked at Progressive Recruitment full-time

        Pros

Quick to find you if they need CV's.

        Cons

Poor communications. Callback requests are almost never followed-up, usual reason being "the requested person is in a meeting". This is definitely not the most professional recruiting agency. This agency behaves like an old-fashioned "CV shuffler".

        Advice to Management

Clean up your act and start behaving professionally and start adding value to your customers.

I worked at Progressive Recruitment full-time for more than a year

        Pros

There is pretty good camaraderie in the office. Most people are team players and celebrate the success of others. If you happen to be placed into a lucrative part of the market, and on the right team, there is potential to make decent money.

        Cons

It feels like middle school. Management is far too strict enforcing arbitrary rules. Huge disparity in pay. There are two people in the office who make the kind of money the company likes to tell their recruits about ($500k+), but the moderately successful make close to 60k. Most consultants don't make more than 40k. Recruiters will never make more than that.

        Advice to Management

You've recently seen a load of talent leave, arguably some of your smartest employees. Respect them, trust them to do their jobs, and implement their ideas. What is the point of hiring the brightest students straight out of Uni if you aren't going to utilize their wits to make the company better?
