    Cons

    I worked at RICS full-time

    Pros

Exposure to high level professionals in the property profession, annual professional development course, and good benefits package.

    Cons

The local office leadership is lacking in a way that is detrimental to the success of the organization. There's a lack of direction, death by meetings - which usually ends with no further action being taken, the Managing Director's ego is inflated and he has yet to deliver on annual membership acquisition goals, male-centric US office environment, blatant bias, and a lack of transparency. Management is secretive and shady. Outdated software and poor technical support.

    Advice to Management

Cut the dead weight immediately upon realizing that they cannot deliver - as opposed to allowing the problem to fester for years! Set a positive company culture from the TOP down and stop expecting change to happen from the bottom up.

    I worked at RICS full-time

    Pros

Strong international organizations with great benefits and decent salary

    Cons

Communication with UK home office can be difficult. Expectation created through the filter of the UK mindset which can sometimes conflict with regional practices.

    Advice to Management

    Give regional offices more autonomy.

I have been working at RICS full-time

    Pros

Very good pension, healthcare and annual salary increases are likely. Offices close at Christmas so long break provided.

    35-hour working week

    Flexible working hours

    Generally friendly staff

    Cons

The board as it is currently constituted has been there too long with certain members needing to be removed asap!

Antiquated IT systems needing immediate updating (manual purchase order system)!

    Below average salaries

    Advice to Management

The CEO needs so start something of a clear-out at board level. Get the IT sorted out asap

I worked at RICS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some really great people (I mean the senior management and the professional groups - they are top class!)

    Cons

While the senior management are excellent, they are a relatively small team and they can't be expected to have good knowledge of all of the different fields that the firm has specialities in. Because of this there are quote a few people in relatively senior positions that simply are not up to their job.

    Advice to Management

There are a couple of mid-level managers that hold too much wieght in the firm, and they make everyones life miserable - you know who I am talking about!!! They are holding back the firms growth in our target markets and they held back my own work. Also, I now earn just over twice what I earned at RICS for doing a lot less work.
