While we are pleased that you would recommend us and you feel that the great onboard team, good benefits & pay are all pros, we are sorry to hear that you feel the working hours are long. Our rostered working hours are planned to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation (including some early or late shifts) but these are typically on a 4-on 4-off rota basis and we would like to reassure you that our shift durations & rest breaks adhere to both the MCA and the Working Time Regulations . We appreciate your feedback and taking time to share your views and if you would like to discuss your concerns further, please reach out to your Senior Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent or another member of the Operations Management Team.

Thanks for your feedback. Whilst it’s great to hear that you enjoy the benefits that we offer to Red Funnel employees, I am sorry you feel our wages are not liveable. We work closely with our recognised Trade Unions to review remuneration on an annual basis and to ensure that our total employment package exceeds minimum wage, providing many benefits such as private healthcare scheme; free vehicle ferry/Red Jet travel to/from the Isle of Wight; 75% discount on South Western Railway; free parking in Southampton; and staff feeding allowance (for certain operational roles). If you are a member, we would encourage you to engage with your union during pay negotiations. Some of our management team have long service at Red Funnel and have worked in many roles throughout the company, experiencing first-hand what it’s like to be on the front-line of operations. We encourage all colleagues to speak with their management team if they have ideas or concerns regarding our day-to-day operations or alternatively, please submit any suggestions you may have using the First-Class Ideas Scheme, details of which can be found on our intranet (Amidships).
