I worked at RedViking full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work is very unique and interesting, and a lot of people are trying their best.

    Cons

Poor management. They don't have a vision for how the company should be structured, and even if they did they don't have the expertise to know how to execute it. They end up restructuring groups every few months to the point where nobody knows what they're doing. PTO policy is antiquated, and recent changes made it worse. Workload is usually so high you're afraid to take time off, since you'll get yelled at for missing...

    Advice to Management

Not a single "management" person in the top ranks. It's all run by engineers, trying to run the company like it's still a garage shop. They approach every management problem as though it's a unique engineering problem that nobody has seen before. I've seen it before, and I'm sure I'll see it again: as is typical with small engineering companies, they made the common mistake of creating new management positions as...

I worked at RedViking for more than a year

    Pros

Great investment in employees from health programs to professional learning seminars.

    Cons

The managers take on too many projects for them to be completed properly within the requested timeline, often leading to pulling engineers away from different groups to complete projects on tight timeline without reviewing work.

    Advice to Management

Understand the requirements of completing a project with minimal need to correct mistakes and allow engineers the time to learn from mistakes the first time rather than compounding issues.

I have been working at RedViking full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is the only I placed I have worked at that truly has a team mentality. I never feel like I am out on an island with no support. There is always someone here to help, teach, and assist. The leadership of the company is open to listening and adjusting. For people in the company that need to travel, adjustments have been made in the last several months to make travelling a little less painful with bonuses and...

    Cons

RedViking is growing and expanding. With that comes some growing pains. Some of the practices just aren't conducive to a larger growing company. However, these issues are recognized and being addressed. It can sometimes be a little hard to grow, but leadership is doing their best to shield the rank & file form feeling any of the burden.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Keep on working with the employees in mind and moving to keep us one of "the coolest places to work!"
