    Pros

Initially you are treated well and the company (management) will listen to your new ideas. You'll have a shot at implementing some of your ideas and improvements, which is decidedly enjoyable if you like to think outside the box and have a creative mind. Management generally will leave you to develop ideas based on set directives with the assumption you are a capable person. Mistakes (not egregious) are forgiven and coaching given.

    Cons

Management is often inaccessible. It can be difficult to get signatures on forms that require approval for time senstive job placement. Unless you have a creative manager who will do a whole lot of communicating via email and scanned documents, you may find yourself letting down potential employers. The daily processes can be chaotic as standards are always changing without notice or communication and transparency with management and Project Directors is essentially non-existent. ResCare has a tendency to hire managment who are not equipped to handle the level of work required or have promoted people from within then not offered sufficient training for their newly acquired position. This lends to the chaos. Instructions to management from higher up focuses on unneccesarily regimenting certain practices (such as morning huddle or "stand up") while not giving enough direction to more important things such as understanding policy. Though communcation and teamwork between employees from different funding streams is the goal, there is a general lack of cohesiveness and low morale as managment is so disconnected, employees feel unimportant and unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent and accessible. Recognize outstanding employees and work on customer service (your employees are your customers). Something is broken in corporate's structure. Operational Managers and boots-on-the-ground folks are over-worked without the support or guidance they need to be successful. You'll get more highly productive employees if you take the time to ensure morale is up, employees get recognition for a job well done, proper training for you employees, and refocus on where you place your energy regarding rigid control. Morning stand-up is not as important as following program guidelines and policy. Employees need guidance. "Do the right thing and know the right thing to do" is a lofty goal when you don't disseminate the knowledge to carry out the sentiment.

I have been working at ResCare WorkForce (More than a year)

    Pros

    No evening or weekend hours.

    Cons

If you're a tds, a case manager, you're doing the most important work and treated with the least respect. Many managers are incompetent but promoted because of who they know. The company operates from a micromanaging perspective and if you have a controlling manager 8-4:30 Mon-Fri can feel like being in a cult. ResCare allows managers to creates a toxic environment that's led all but 2 tds on my team to want out.

    Advice to Management

Don't say it if you can't do it- Show Respect & Care towards your employees, even if they aren't management.

    Pros

An Excellent mission for the company to get an underserved population back in the work world and eventually off public assistance. Most of the employees are driven to help these needy folks toward success in team environment...

    Cons

The caseload per worker is unfillable. Most clients can't get the desired services because of the numbers and each employee gets serious burnout. The pay is below average and administration is barely supportive. Some of the clients suffer from serious mental health issues, are dangerous and actually are unemployable and should not be in program...its a mess!

    Advice to Management

invest in staff and watch the dividends...also, get a better vetting process for the clients. Most are just going thru the process so not to get benefits revoked...

I worked at ResCare WorkForce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Becoming a RM was the worst mistake I could've made! Rescare doesn't have any loyalty to it's employees, on Any level!

    Cons

Plan for forced overtime, and being thown into simultaneous situations with dangerous consumers that Rescare knows are dangerous! They won't discharge anyone who pays...

    Advice to Management

Watch your back...you will take the fall for everything..i was off on Medical leave for 4 months..3 months and 15 days into med leave, state failed my house...Rescare promised state to discipline the RM (me), and they did...two weeks after i returned...
