Great Energy and Great People
Sep 22, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Robin has a lot of Pros. We have an excellent opportunity to make an impact on the future of work. Our teams are innovating constantly to present ourselves as the centerpiece for the intersectionality of the onsite and remote workplace. Vision: 5 stars Culture: 5 stars Comp: 5 stars Meaningful work: 5 stars Having a voice: 5 stars I could go on and on
Cons
The desire for the product seems to be cyclical. There will be down times for sales but really fruitful seasons as well!

Pros
Robin has some strong leaders that really care about both the product and their teams
Cons
Not all leaders are created equal

Pros
Work from home, decent health benefits, good tools for prospecting, some opportunities for travel.
Cons
A brand that “promotes people over places” certainly does not actually value people. This goes for both employees and customers. Employees who worked so hard to build the brand and stay positive after the first round of layoffs were let go six weeks after the first. Health benefits were canceled the same day people were laid off which left individuals scrambling to cancel important planned health appointments. Many of us are still struggling to file unemployment since Robin has not reported wages for team members in early fall. The poor customers …it’s like leadership got together one day and said, “our product is so different we should charge 3x more than the next competitor” even though there are few differentiators that set them apart. Multiple reps begged leadership to listen to customers questions around an insane pricing structure. We were dismissed and ultimately lost many good quality companies to the competition. This directly impacted sales reps. 1 person out of 7 hit their quota in 2022. Most people made WELL UNDER their OTE. They don’t pay out for multi year agreements or provide quota relief even if contracts are paid upfront in full so don’t bother selling them.

Lack of Transparency
Mar 15, 2023 - Business Development Representative (BDR) in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Coworkers, work/life balance, benefits (prior to removal of many)
Cons
Lack of transparency from leadership. Poor communication. Leadership shows a clear lack of experience with running a company - oftentimes overly optimistic which lead to unexpected extra layoffs. The culture of the company was one of it's greatest pros; however, this took a massive hit with poorly executed layoffs and stress inducing meetings (with little to no explanation).

Pros
- Good work/life balance - For the most part friendly coworkers
Cons
- Unfortunately it's not surprising to see what's unfolded at Robin. For years, the sales team tried to warn Product/Engineering that customers were asking for features that weren't on the roadmap. This was always ignored and the culture was generally that the Product team could do no wrong and they knew better than the customer. Anyone with even a small amount of business acumen should realize how ignorant this is. - The pricing model was completely out of touch and leadership never gave it attention. Management also were hesitant to help reps in deals "I don't like getting on the phone"... goes against what a start up should be and there wasn't much to learn from as a rep. - Executive Team lacked experience and seemed more focused on making things feel like a social club rather than a business that's focused on solving customer problems and driving revenue.

Great team members, product lacking, 0 transparency from senior leadership
Jan 12, 2023 - Account ExecutiveRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I spent less than a year working at Robin. For the most part, I loved my experience working for the company. I was a part of a diverse team that worked incredibly hard to bring in new business despite the economic downshift. Every department has incredibly talented people, and questions are always answered quickly and professionally. Robin invested in tools that helped investigate and rehash prospects and provided professional development stipends to help employees grow on their own.
Cons
There is a startling lack of guidance from senior leadership. The sales team was constantly scared and making aimless dials for fear of being fired to hit an arbitrary number that showed "productivity." Regardless of our plead for help from my direct manager, we never had an organic meeting with the people responsible for putting those KPI's in place. Sales always provided valuable customer feedback that was typically ignored. The product is not keeping up with customer demand, and the pricing structure doesn't make sense.

Beware - most reviews are from brand new hires
Jan 20, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Tremendous people work at Robin which is why people stay. The culture is truly unique. Most people welcome questions and are very friendly.
Cons
The executive team is full of inexperienced leaders and it shows. There is a denial of product market fit, they avoid having tough conversations, there is lack of development of across all teams, and no formal training. Many employees become complacent because they see others putting in minimal effort and know you can get away with it. If you want to grow in your career, you need to seek outside development. When things are good, you’ll know, and when things are bad, you won’t. Speaking out only puts a target on your back even though it’s encouraged. ***Careful reading the reviews about Robin. They ask people to leave a review within a month of joining … hence all the positive scores.

Amazing teammates but poor leadership and change management.
Feb 14, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People are the best part about the company. Specifically at the individual contributor level. People take pride in and are passionate about the work that they do. There are several opportunities to work cross functionally and learn from the brightest of minds. Solid product but organizations view this software as a "nice-to-have" and not a business requirement. Industry standard perks including: -Health benefits - Unlimited PTO -Work Flexibility -Parental Leave
Cons
Things started to unravel quickly after an org wide restructure combined two roles into one and folks were asked to take on additional responsibilities and a quota with little to no training. Priorities were constantly changing quarter to quarter and unfortunately the product started to move away from what made it successful in the first place despite feedback shared with product. Things got worse when layoffs washed over the tech industry. Understandably Robin had to make a difficult decision and do a round of layoffs. This is where lack of transparency became an issue. Individual contributors had no insight into what executives were thinking. Executives had the opportunity to be transparent many times in weekly town halls but chose to gloss over the realities of the business. Many folks were assured that there would be just one round of layoffs only to learn that there would be just one round of layoffs only to learn that there would be more just six weeks later. The company mission statement is to put people over places but empathy for employees is lacking. Those who were impacted by the layoffs lost health benefits the SAME day that they were let go; shocking considering the implications layoffs can have on one's mental health. Also, folks were required to return their laptops almost immediately, making searching for a job even more difficult and stressful. All in all, it was a great learning experience. The harsh reality is that despite having a once bright company culture, in these conditions, at the end of the day you are a number on a balance sheet.
Continue readingThanks for taking time to share your experience here - agreed, the people are the best part about this place and we often hear that cross functional exposure and collaboration are part of what make this company unique. It has definitely been a challenging environment to navigate when it comes to shifting priorities. We’ll continue using town halls as a space to keep a pulse on the realities of the business and take your advice of being as realistic with information and tone as possible. At the time we did truly believe it would be the only round necessary based on the information we had at the time. You are correct that our benefit plans end on the last day of employment. As part of the severance packaged offered to every impacted employe, Robin covered the cost of three months of COBRA premiums for those employees who were losing coverage on our plan, with eligibility starting the day after employment ended. We will continue to practice empathy for hardship caused by these sorts of business decisions and are genuinely sorry to hear you did not feel you benefited from that effort. Your advice to management will be shared at an upcoming executive team meeting. Thanks again.

Learning Experience
Jan 16, 2023 - Enterprise Account ExecutiveRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Fair pay & benefits, good access to leadership. One of the market leaders in their space. Good people throughout the organization that want you to succeed.
Cons
Companies who historically over-communicate should not ambush employees with layoffs shortly after securing funding "that will cover our expenses for months". They shouldn't tell employees "we are only doing 1 round of layoffs" 6 weeks before the 2nd round.

Thank you for spending time giving this feedback. It's encouraging to hear how you feel about pay, benefits, access to leadership, and our position in the space. The last thing we want anyone to experience during a layoff is a feeling of ambush and I'm truly sorry to hear you had that experience. Your advice to management is being reviewed with the team. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

Small company means everyone is watching you, you needed to know everything right away, little rooms for errors.

Some of the pros was the benefits of the company. Little things here and there and they were very awesome about meeting the team in person and really just overall the company was great with benefits. The team was great to work with.
Cons
I was only there for 2 months (still in training) and then got a call from my manager and said that "it was not working out." We set things to improve on and I was improving, but just like that they asked me to "step away" and avoid the performance review plan. There was a lot going on at the time when I joined and called my manager for some advice and rant a little bit about some little things here and there, but just wanted to get things off my chest. Thought it went well and thought it was alright to do, but next week got a call saying, "its not working out". I was shocked. I wanted to stay because I enjoyed the work and tasks, but they asked me to "step away".
