I worked at Runyon Saltzman full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

High-pace atmosphere; never a dull moment; tight-knit group as a whole; senior management as a whole is flexible and willing to provide you with opportunities that best fit your work style - with a large scope of accounts and industries you can learn a lot very quickly here

    Cons

Unclear growth track can limit the time spent at the agency

    Advice to Management

The high-pace can wear on people and with so much going on it can be difficult to focus enough effort on every account

I have been working at Runyon Saltzman (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Clearly, one of the greatest benefits of working at RSE is the incredible talent and team that they have built. The work is typical of an agency life - fast paced and exciting - but I am always impressed with the professionalism, integrity, innovations of my colleagues who always seem to pull off the impossible with amazing results.

The office environment is impressive as well.

    Cons

The challenge is balancing the demand of creativity and innovation with the required processes of running a business.

    Advice to Management

Continue the path you've chosen to empower employees and be bold in trying new things and ideas.

    Pros

I have been working at RSE for over a year now and couldn't be happier. RSE is truly a great place to work - both the clients and employees are great - and the culture is something that I truly admire. RSE has a long tradition of excellence not only with clients but also in the Sacramento community. It is a place where I feel I can grow and bring new ideas to the table.

    Cons

Nothing that I can think of.

    Pros

Great reputation in the community. Really motivated employees who are great at what they do. RSE is a full-service agency so you can gain a great understanding for the industry working here.

    Cons

They are a little behind the times. Creative is lacking and they aren't very digital savvy. The environment is somewhat cliquey.

    Advice to Management

Work more collaboratively with the team and provide greater transparency for all employees. Provide more opportunities for team-building as well as growth.

I worked at Runyon Saltzman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company culture - RSE has a long, established history in Sacramento. Still, the agency has been able to keep its work environment lively, vibrant and fresh. One walk through its space and you'll realize this. The people that make up the agency are hard-working, resilient and passionate about they work that is done. The agency is welcoming to new employees and frequent company-wide get-togethers to celebrate the agency's history, its accomplishments, birthdays, weddings, baby showers, holidays and more all help bring employees together, making RSE a neat place to work.

Opportunities - The agency has a wide-range of successful accounts it works on. There are a lot of opportunities to contribute in meaningful ways. Since the agency is a full-service communications firm, employees can check-in with the creative team, media department, advertising team, public relations team and more all under one roof. The agency definitively provides the tools that employees need to succeed.

Location - RSE is located in the heart of midtown Sacramento and has an amazing, modern workspace. It is an exciting time to be a part of RSE and the Sacramento community.

    Cons

After working at RSE for a little over a year and a half, I do not have a list of cons. While there was certainly room for improvement in the areas of training, providing feedback and communication between management and its teams, the agency has addressed these areas in very positive ways. Improvements have been or are in the process of being implemented as of this writing.

Actually, the president has really taken proactive steps to learn directly from employees at all levels on how the agency can improve. This goes a very long way and shows that RSE isn't resting on it's important history and is always looking for ways to turn a great place to work into an even better one.

    Advice to Management

While management is approachable and open to communication, it is sometimes difficult to set aside time for these feedback conversations to happen. My advice to management is to continue to provide this open environment and try to ensure that the opportunities for it to take place are numerous and consistent.

    Pros

Well-respected agency in Sacramento. Nice perks and bonuses and the partners really try to make the environment welcoming and open. You will learn a lot about the industry on a basic level.

    Cons

There are some egotistical employees due to clout of company in the Sacramento market. Environment can be very cliquey and if you don't fit in with certain employees, they will make working there very uncomfortable. The work isn't very innovative or creative which is due in part by the less than exciting clients.

    Advice to Management

Trust your staff more, offer more opportunities for advancement and better pay. Being in Sacramento doesn't justify paying less than market rate.

    Pros

Pay is good. People who actually do the work are great.

    Cons

To many owners. Stuck in old ways. There is a fear of change. Not enough trust in the workers to bring new ideas to the table.

    Advice to Management

Downsize the ownership and trust in you employees. Don't micro manage.
