I worked at S3 Graphics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked at S3 Graphics for over 15 years. The people are great to work with and HR was great when we were still S3 Incorporated. Benefits and work/life balance were good.

    Cons

Lack of direction and company goals; no communication from upper level management; no salary or performance reviews in over 5 years.

    Advice to Management

Communicate the company goals to management and make sure they communicate the information down.

    Pros

The employees in this company are willing to give you any information to achieve your jobs while you have any question.

    Cons

The salaries didn't adjust at all for 3 years in the US.
There is no new project for 3 years.

    Advice to Management

It can't improve employee's professional skill without new project tape out and can't make success for the company. We hope the company will be grown up again just like 10 years ago.

    Pros

flexible time management, no pushing presures.

    Cons

low salary low bonus, less motivation.

    Advice to Management

RD feel disppointed with business transformation, SQA didn't always provide the useful clues, RD have to run regressions test to found which CL is to blamed on most issues

    Pros

Colleagues are nice, and work is very easy for me
Pay extra housing fund up to 11% in Shanghai

    Cons

Base salaries are lower compared with most local companies as a testing engineer
Testing method is low, mostly it's about manual testing, it's hard to improve technique here
No benefits (may be there's some, but too little for me to remember, I only get a T shirt with S3 logo, still wearing :))

    Pros

A good place to study and to work, especially for GPU related topic.
Compiler for GPU shading language is a challenage job, and I'm aiming to be an expert in compiler area.
This is the best place that makes me grow.

    Cons

company has very legacy culture, code base, and does not put as much as effect on market like Nvidia and ATI, so it losts it's place.

    Advice to Management

Put more effect on market, get rid of old culture.
