    I worked at SKYCITY part-time

    Pros

    Skycity cares about stuffs;
    working at a really stunning town;
    it's not 24 hours open, so less pressure;
    free training to start the professional work;

    Cons

    Night-shift is not good for health;
    as a dealer, have to spend years of years to be promoted;
    company benefit for dealer is not good.

    Advice to Management

    Give dealer more opportunity to learn from all over the world, for example, send excellent stuff to other casino for study.

    I have been working at SKYCITY full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good employer overall, decent pay, lots of support for employees. Employee benefits are good and there's career opportunities if you work hard and have a good attitude.

    Cons

    Big place - sometimes different departments don't seem to talk to each other.

    Advice to Management

    Need to have better communication between departments.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    Staff canteen have cheap food.

    Cons

    They prefer to employ casual contract so they don't have to pay them over time knowing that everyone will be after doing extra hours to make up the weekly pay. Compared to Christchurch Casino who was always employee first before the equipment, Skycity is a total opposite. If a earthquake scenario is to happen in Auckland (god forbid), I bet they will not allow anyone to go home until all chips and money have been accounted for.

    I worked at SKYCITY full-time

    Pros

    Dynamic and exciting place to work. Great people and there is always something new going on. Awesome reward programme "Quest for the Best" and so much opportunity for personal development if you prove yourself. Discounted parking, $2.50 meals in the staff cafeteria and lots of events e.g "Dare the Stairs" SKYTOWER stair climb, Talent Quest etc.

    Cons

    Sometimes the speed of change can be disruptive.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    I worked at SKYCITY (More than a year)

    Pros

    subsidized meals, parking.
    wages are good,
    generous with leave

    Cons

    some supervisors are extremely negative,
    environment becomes toxic after a while as customers are losing money and tempers flare.
    most of the time work is at night so you'll be sleeping in the day
    not a fixed roster

    Advice to Management

    more reviews of some the supervisors, their the ones that should be mentoring, supporting the ground staff, yet I have seen blatant abuse hurled in front of dealers who have made an honest mistake.

    I have been working at SKYCITY full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    I am fairly new to New Zealand and also to SKYCITY but I give a big thumbs up to working here. Its a really fun environment with it being an Entertainment business so there is always something going on or something to get involved with. They are super encouraging with regards to your progression and developing your skills with various training courses you can take. They also recognise achievements with the ‘Quest for the best’ ceremony and there are countless benefits such as heavily subsidised parking, $2.50 meals in the staff canteen as well as health insurance – the list goes on. Everyone is super friendly, you are made to feel valued and kept informed all the time about what is happening with the business. All in all a great place to work.

    Cons

    I actually cant think of any - apart from maybe the traffic trying to get into and out of the city!

    I have been working at SKYCITY full-time

    Pros

    I am a relatively new employee of SKYCITY, it has been an organisation I have wanted to work for for some time so was thrilled to secure the opportunity. SKYCITY offers excellent development opportunities and does honestly care about its staff. You work with thousands of people but everyone is friendly and approachable. Every staff member is kept well informed about what is going on in the business and you are made to feel valued. It is a vibrant and exciting organisation to work for.

    Cons

    At this stage I can honestly say I can't think of any.
