Frustrating at how Poorly Run it was - but good program for students
Pros
Not gonna give away too much identifying info, but I worked in res life at one of the sites. Pros: The students were great, well behaved, and engaging to talk to. // The pay is decent. // Some fun activities. // Students really enjoyed it.
Cons
A lot. The program policies/procedures/how it's run comes from higher up and a lot of them were unclear or nonexistent. I don't want to give away anything identifying so I'm trying to be vague on purpose so sorry, but there is a lot more than this. To start, there were no medical emergency procedures in place besides a first aid kit and 911 if it was serious. Students had no access to physical medical care during the program (again unless you need to call 911) and medical info forms for the students were not a thing. Honestly, for that reason alone I wouldn't send a kid there. // Also we were severely understaffed. This led to the student-staff ratio almost never actually being followed and a large disconnect between the staff on what was actually going on in a given time. // Budgeting issues as well. // Oh and best of all, the anonymous feedback form staff were given at the end of the summer wasn't actually anonymous so I couldn't actually say what I thought and I think a lot of others felt the same :)
