Pros

Typical GLC. Consider a stable company with all the retrenchment exercise going around for mnc. If you are able to tolerate rigid environment, can follow strictly by rules without having any flexibility for modern day work culture, ok with being micro manage, can act oblivious to inefficient processes and multiple duplicate reporting, then this company will be ok for you.

Cons

Experience should differ from Lob, departments and line of reporting. Rigid, extremely hierarchical, simple decisions are slow and inefficient due to multiple levels of reporting/clearances. Many rework are required because each reporting line will have “valuable inputs/ coaching/ guidance”. Nobody wants to make a simple decision as they are afraid of taking responsibility in the event something goes wrong. Hence, multiple “alignments” with different stakeholders are required as “consensus” are necessary to CYA. Limited collaboration and sharing among departments as each departments will have to “listen” to their own bosses. Office is in city hall, but interior structure is extremely run down. The desks/meeting rooms/pantry/toilets are stuck back in 30+ years ago. Carpets doesn’t look clean, meeting rooms have a weird/damp smell/ toilets cleanliness need to be improved, (toilet doors are ancient toilet doors). Office politics and gossips are prevalent so anything anyone have said can be used negatively against you. Management represented an open communication environment but the opposite is true, there’s little room for discussion as to eventually you will have to Listen strictly to your boss. Unrealistic deadlines, duplicate reporting, and multiple reworks also means long hours are required. Office hours are 830-6 but you will see many people are working late, and even on weekends. With unrealistic deadlines set for multiple tasks, management will expect you to comply and stick to those unrealistic deadlines without caring for long hours and your personal wellbeing. Don’t join unless you have no other choice.
