    Pros

They pay for most of the health insurance costs. I have a company vehicle and also get reimbursed for my gas.

    Cons

Sometimes what should be a normal 8 hour day turns into a 16 hour day. Travel away from family and get home sick.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. I would lose my mind most of the time if I had to take care of the things that you handle for us.

I have been working at Seneca full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits of a large company with the feel of a small company. Excellent benefits package includes excellent health plan, 401k matching, gym membership reimbursement, 11 paid holidays + 2 floating, 9 paid sick days, paid vacation based on years of service (starts @ 10 days). Alternative work schedule available (4x9 +4). Strong & innovative GIS department, diligent environmental team, company-wide focus on safety, open-door office policy (access to supervisors, managers, VPs), annual bonus program (tied to company performance). Paid training/ professional conferences.

    Cons

At times, inefficient communication among departments. Overbearing Human Resources dept, difficult/ lengthy process for internal transfers (lateral, promotion, or department change). Relative instability based on natural gas markets, but that's standard for the industry.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to view & transition to other opportunities within the company. Give managers & VPs greater control over the hiring/ interviewing process. HR pulls resumes out of the pool without consulting department heads, even for internal transfers. General feeling in the office is that HR has too much power/ control and where does one lodge a complaint about HR? Can't go to HR....

I have been working at Seneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

No layoffs even with price of gas being down. Good benefits. Strong safety & environmental focus.

    Cons

Very conservative atmosphere-you have to fit in. Land Dept. Management is disorganized and holds back female employees from career development.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent; follow procedures; no micromanaging.

I worked at Seneca as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

they have the resources and a 'standing' in the Canadian educational space
    do deliver more 'vocational' learning

too rigid and inflexible for the global market
very slow to respond to market needs and requirements
cannot understand their recruiting criteria: some faculty has very limited engagement and communication skills
