Pros

It’s remote and flexible, but still not worth it for all the $ in the world.

Cons

Where do I even begin? The positive review was clearly written by the CEO, as those are the exact words he uses and his writing style. Nobody ever stays here for more than 2 months, because of how cruel the CEO is to his employees. You’ll see it immediately in the interview process and then as you’re hired on, it will get worse and worse until it’s unbearable. He will boost you up, then knock you down to the ground, gaslighting you to believe there is something wrong with you for the tiniest mistake or simply sharing your opinion. He will tell you what words you can and cannot use and the other way you need to think and act. You will be interrogated, berated, and yelled at. Especially if you question anything or share your ideas. Many people have left this very sick and toxic workplace and needed emotional support after. The start- up excitement, flexible work schedule, and remote work model are NOT worth it. You’d literally be better off working at McDonald’s.

Pros

There was decent compensation and they had flexible hours.

Cons

Firstly, I would like to preface by saying any 5 star reviews that you see her are by the CEO. He is the one who leads the interview, on boarding, and the person you will be working closest with. Given the position, he will isolate you and belittle you. You will not get to interact with any other coworkers and you will be given no training model. The company is highly unorganized, Its a very mentally tasking place to work. The CEO is not open minded at all, you will be bombarded on your time off. Your vocabulary will be limited. The turnover rate is horrible as he pushes anyone away. There is no room for growth or longevity within the company. The CEO is also very condescending and impersonal. He will try to pry at your personal life and then weaponize it. I would highly recommend listening to those who left a one-star review. This is by far the most lack luster, underwhelming, unorganized, and disappointing company i have ever come across. the product they market is overpriced and they definitely exploit the youth as their indeed job listings are targeted towards college students.

Pros

I have been a software engineer at Shopwindow for the last six years. One thing I’ve really liked is getting to meet with the client success team regularly. It’s very collaborative and I feel I’m getting a strong understanding of the trends and challenges of the industries we work in. I enjoy watching how quickly the work we are putting into new products gets put into use in the real world. Shopwindow has fast feedback loops - I’ve found that the client success and sales teams are good about providing feedback from real customers. This collaboration is helpful because the product team can continually develop the UX & functionality until the customers are thrilled with the user experience & what the Shopwindow feature does. In the meetings, any idea is taken on board & we work together to rapidly craft that idea into a winning solution. Because we don’t jump into deployments until we’ve got all hands on deck that it’s right, there is a lot of enthusiasm when we actually start putting it all together. Shopwindow has been a good company to work for in terms of challenging my engineering. Getting to engineer the solutions is super creative & mentally stimulating. I am encouraged to develop the solution until it not only ticks all the boxes, but also does so with very clean and well structured code. The codebase is fully type checked. The codebase avoids duplication of effort. Instead, we refactor common functionality into reusable components, so the codebase stays straightforward to follow. There is never pressure to release until it is right which I feel is very important as an engineer.

Cons

No real cons come to mind at this time. It’s important to note that every position is remote so it’s not like you are going to be bumping shoulders with your work buddies by the water cooler. It’s important that that’s okay with you and you’re good at managing all the distractions that come from working at home.
