I have been working at Shubert Organization part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great working environment!!!!!!!!!!

    Cons

Patrons can be nasty (but if you smile and continue smiling sometimes they get better). Patrons and co-workers lie to the Managers.

    Pros

Work in historic theaters with a diverse, unique staff and decent union, fun opening night parties

    Cons

Drunk Patrons, patrons lie about usher behavior to house managers

    Advice to Management

Ignore the lies of the sometimes awful patrons

I worked at Shubert Organization part-time

    Pros

Good pay, good company name, many career opportunities.

    Cons

Terrible Front-of-House Management at Stage 42. Bad FOH Managers there created bad energy among staff in all departments.

    Advice to Management

Please hire more honest and fair FOH Managers for your theatres.

I have been working at Shubert Organization full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not much good to say about this place other than the fact that since the acquisition the business has been more stable

    Cons

I really feel that Shubert is destroying the moral of our Boulder Colorado office systematically and without cause. Some of the many items lowering overall morale: not allowing us to bring our dogs to the office, not having a remote policy in place knowing we have such inclement weather, as well as the SUB-PAR health benefits in place for the Choice office while offering much better benefits for Shubert employees. This makes us feel as though we are the outcast of the company and that Choice is not as integral as other acquisitions made the Shubert.
    BAD Management from Shubert.

    Advice to Management

Please ask yourself Why are we losing all our good talent in Boulder?

I worked at Shubert Organization full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is a company with a prestigious name that is not going anywhere soon...a very stable and lucrativeCons. Shubert is a very old school and you just need to accept their ways.

    Cons

    Poor work/life balance
    No flexibility
    Horrible management
    Biased managers

    Advice to Management

You need to change or your will lose some good talent but most likely management wont care after all they set on their ways.

    Pros

You can work evenings and weekends and still have a day job.

    Cons

Theater goers do not tip as much as they used to.

I worked at Shubert Organization full-time

    Pros

I enjoyed working at The Shubert Organization when I was there. Great people. Free theatre tickets. Benefits were great, especially the health insurance (of course this was prior to Obama Care so not sure if anything changed). Holiday party is fantastic! Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Pay isn't the greatest. No bonuses, but you have a great holiday party instead. No real upward mobility as much of upper management enjoys where they work and don't plan on leaving.

    Cons

    Poor work/life balance
    No flexibility
    Work long hours
    Horrible management
    Biased managers

    Advice to Management

Try hiring more people that are qualified in upper management instead of hiring them based on favoritism.

I have been working at Shubert Organization part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You get to see the broadway shows, interact with patrons and you don't have to work at one particular theatre.

    Cons

If you are not a permanent usher at a theater that has a long running show like Phantom of the Opera or Chicago, you may be out of work for a while as some shows have limited runs.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more ushers.

I worked at Shubert Organization full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people at work are very eccentric and creative
You get to see some great broadway shows

    Cons

To much focus on selling a 3rd party product in a script than selling tickets and getting to the next customer

    Advice to Management

Ease up on how much you put in the script and more about helping as many customers as possible.
