I worked at Shubert Organization full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

The benefits are great. Superb medical, fair PTO that increases with longevity, matching 401k, a (for the time being, at least) solid pension plan and lots of free shows on and off Broadway. The organization also purchases a good number of tickets to The Tony Awards, allowing most, if not all interested employees to attend. The annual holiday party is legendary for good reason. Most of the organization really is like...

      Cons

The company is very old school in too many ways. It can be difficult to try and get those in charge to modernize in order to increase efficiency. It sometimes can feel as though you are working in a “Mad Men” like era. There is a lot of paper being used for things that should be digital and a lack of useful software that could be utilized in cutting down on wasted time and energy used going through antiquated procedures...

      Advice to Management

Management needs to be more receptive to the ideas of employees in regard to modernization. “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” is only lending to a stagnant productivity rate. HR needs a better finger on the pulse of the general “cubicle” employees who feel calling out unfair conditions or even possible harassment or discrimination against them will only lead to retribution or worse. It is a very open and accepting environment...

      Pros

      Great working environment!!!!!!!!!!

      Cons

Patrons can be nasty (but if you smile and continue smiling sometimes they get better). Patrons and co-workers lie to the Managers.

I worked at Shubert Organization part-time

      Pros

Good pay, good company name, many career opportunities.

      Cons

Terrible Front-of-House Management at Stage 42. Bad FOH Managers there created bad energy among staff in all departments.

      Advice to Management

Please hire more honest and fair FOH Managers for your theatres.

I have been working at Shubert Organization full-time

      Pros

Seeing Broadway shows in New York,

      Cons

The company is over 100 years old and their hr policies and management style reflect it. You are told by management that "you better not go to HR" to cover up a very poor management style.

      Advice to Management

Get into the 21st century. You can't treat people like that anymore!
